In-depth review
HSBC Premier World Mastercard
Annual fee waived for HSBC Premier customers (a ₹12,000 joining fee applies), a class-leading 0.99% forex markup, unlimited domestic and international lounges, and ₹1 crore of travel insurance — with none of the spend-threshold games that clutter its rivals. It won't out-earn an Infinia, but for a Premier customer it's close to a no-brainer. The only barrier is the banking relationship.

Pros & cons
✓ Pros
- Unlimited LoungeKey international lounge access (plus 8 guest visits)
- Class-leading 0.99% forex markup — one of India's lowest
- Points never expire and transfer 1:1 to ~20 airline and hotel partners, including Accor ALL and Marriott Bonvoy
- Up to 12X reward points on travel booked via the HSBC Travel with Points portal
- Complimentary concierge and ₹1 crore travel insurance
- Annual fee waived for Qualified HSBC Premier customers (only the ₹12,000 joining fee applies)
✕ Cons
- Requires an HSBC Premier relationship (₹50L TRB for accounts opened from 1 Jan 2026, ₹40L grandfathered, or qualifying mortgage) — not a standalone application for most
- Non-Premier applicants pay ₹12,000 joining / ₹20,000 renewal — hard to justify vs alternatives
- The ₹12,000 joining fee applies even to Premier customers — only the annual/renewal fee is waived
- Post-April-2025, eleven categories share a cumulative ₹1L/month earn cap and fuel no longer earns points
Eligibility & documents
This is the figure for salaried applicants. Where HSBC sets a separate one for the self-employed, its own eligibility page gives it.
What your HSBC Reward Points are worth
Realistic value per point by redemption route — the difference is what most people leave on the table.
Standard redemption — the floor. HSBC points redeem best by transfer, not cash
Brand & e-gift vouchers
The widest transfer menu of any Indian issuer — 20 partners (15 airlines, 5 hotels), no minimum and no cap. Premier and TravelOne convert at 1:1 on almost everything; Platinum and RuPay Platinum at roughly 2:1 — but NOT a uniform halving, United is 3:1. Best route is Accor ALL at 1:1 (≈₹2/pt), then Shangri-La: its 5:1 looks like the worst ratio here and returns ~₹1.28/pt, because a Shangri-La point is worth ~₹6.40. hsbc-taj is excluded — its points are a closed IHCL wallet that transfers nowhere.
✈ Transfer partners
Direct transfers from this card only, ranked by what a point is worth in the destination programme — plus 12 more partners. Full calculator, every currency →
Requires an HSBC Premier relationship (qualifying TRB or mortgage) — not a standalone application for most. Post-April-2025 it also added monthly category caps and dropped fuel earning.

The bottom line
If you qualify for HSBC Premier, this is a near-automatic addition to the wallet — unlimited lounge access plus a 0.99% forex markup (one of India's lowest) is rare at this tier, and the annual fee is waived with the relationship (only the ₹12,000 joining fee applies). Non-Premier applicants face a ₹12,000 joining / ₹20,000 renewal fee that is hard to justify against open-market alternatives.

The Real Point-Value Index 2026: What a Reward Point Is Actually Worth on Every Indian Credit Card
We valued the reward currency of every point-earning credit card in our Indian catalogue. The typical point is worth 25 paise — not ₹1 — and only just over a fifth clear a rupee. The same point can be worth 25 paise as cash or ₹2 transferred to a hotel program: an 8× swing that depends entirely on how you redeem. Full index and methodology — free to cite.
HSBC Visa Signature Credit Card
Note first: HSBC no longer offers a standalone Visa Signature card in India — the Visa Signature benefits are now folded into the lifetime-free HSBC Visa Platinum. This review covers the legacy ₹1,499 Visa Signature (5X on dining, travel and online shopping plus lounge and golf) for existing holders and context. New applicants should look at the free Platinum for the same Visa Signature perks, or the TravelOne for premium travel value.
HSBC Taj Credit Card
India's first super-premium Taj/IHCL co-brand: a ₹1,10,000 fee answered by an annual Taj voucher package reissued at every renewal, Taj InnerCircle NeuPass Platinum status, and 8 NeuCoins plus 5 reward points per ₹100 at Taj hotels. A loyalty instrument for committed Taj guests — not a card to swipe abroad at 3.5% forex.
Standard Chartered Priority Visa Infinite Credit Card
A card Standard Chartered gives to its Priority Banking clients rather than sells — no joining fee, no renewal fee, ever. The golf entitlement (2 games, a lesson and a guest game every month) is unusually generous for zero fee, and domestic lounge access is ungated. The earn rate is the problem: about 0.5% back, and a 3.5% forex markup that turns overseas spend into a loss. Take the access; earn somewhere else.
Standard Chartered Beyond Credit Card
Standard Chartered's India flagship, and the only way to hold one is to park ₹50 lakh with the bank. Beyond earns a genuine 3.33% flat, carries a 2% forex markup and gives unlimited lounge access at home and abroad — but every benefit, including the ₹25,000 fee waiver, hangs on your Funds Under Management, not your spending. Judge the relationship first; the card is downstream of it.
HSBC TravelOne Credit Card
While Axis halved the Magnus's transfer ratio and stripped Accor, Marriott and Qatar out of the Atlas, the HSBC TravelOne held its ground and then improved — matching HSBC Premier's 1:1 Accor transfers without Premier's banking relationship, keeping uncapped access to 20 partners, and adding a 10,000-point milestone bonus. The catch is a standard 3.5% forex, so this is a transfer-partner card, not a low-forex one. For the engaged international traveller who works the partners, it's the best flexible-miles card you can apply for today.

HSBC Rewards Marketplace adds 20 transfer partners at 1:1
Catalogue / voucher redemption, no transfer partners→20 partners (15 airlines + 5 hotels), mostly 1:1
HSBC unveiled the HSBC Rewards Marketplace, adding 20 airline and hotel transfer partners — 15 airlines (Air India Maharaja Club, KrisFlyer, Etihad, British Airways, Flying Blue, Qatar and more) and five hotel chains (Accor, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG, Shangri-La Circle, Wyndham) — with 1:1 conversion for most partners on Premier and roughly one-day conversion turnaround, plus a 20,000+ item redemption catalogue.

Fuel dropped and category caps added to the 3X earn
3 RP/₹100 on all spends, no exclusions→Fuel earns nothing; ~11 categories capped at ₹1,00,000/month
From 1 April 2025 fuel stopped earning Reward Points entirely, and a cumulative ₹1,00,000 monthly cap was applied to the 3X earn on utilities, insurance, tax, jewellery, money transfer, real estate, e-wallets, education/government and financial/non-financial institutions. HSBC had originally planned to exclude these categories outright but walked that back to caps before go-live, keeping only fuel fully excluded.
