YES Bank Wellness Plus Credit Card

A health-themed YES Bank card whose value is in services, not rewards — 12 fitness sessions a month, an annual health check-up (per the Aditya Birla Activ Health list), unlimited doctor consultations, and 5X points at pharmacies. But the base earn is a weak 0.6%, and per YES Bank's MITC the ₹1,499 annual fee is not waivable on spend. Worth it only if you will actually use the wellness benefits.

Mid tier
A lifestyle card that lives or dies on its wellness services. The 12 monthly fitness sessions, annual health check-up and unlimited consultations can easily clear the ₹1,499 fee for a household that uses them — and the 5X pharmacy earn (~3%) is a genuine plus for regular medicine buyers. But the base 0.6% is weak, the fee is not waivable on spend, and lounge access is spend-gated. Buy it for the health benefits you will use, and pair it with a stronger everyday card.

Best forFor someone who will actually attend the monthly fitness sessions and use the free check-ups and doctor consultations, and who fills a chunk of monthly spend at pharmacies. Not for anyone chasing reward value — the base earn is below average and the fee is not waivable.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Rich wellness bundle — 12 monthly fitness sessions, an annual health check-up, unlimited consultations
  • 5X reward points (~3%) at pharmacies and chemist stores
  • 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter once the spend gate is met
  • Fuel surcharge waiver on everyday refuelling

Cons

  • Annual fee of ₹1,499 is NOT waivable on spend (per YES Bank MITC)
  • Base earn of ~0.6% is below average — value is in services, not rewards
  • Domestic lounge access is spend-gated (₹50,000 in the prior quarter)
  • Wellness benefits only pay off if you actively use the sessions and check-ups
  • YES Bank levies a 1% + GST transaction fee on utility spends once they cross ₹25,000 in the previous month, and on individual fuel transactions above ₹10,000

Quick verdict: The YES Bank Wellness Plus is a health-and-lifestyle card, not a rewards card — and that distinction is the whole review. Its value sits in services you have to actually use: 12 fitness sessions a month, an annual health check-up (per the Aditya Birla Activ Health list), unlimited doctor and nutritionist consultations, and a 5X reward accelerator at pharmacies. The reward maths on everyday spend is weak (about 0.6%), and, crucially, YES Bank's own terms state the ₹1,499 annual fee is not waivable on spend. Use the wellness benefits and it can comfortably pay for itself; ignore them and it's an expensive way to earn a below-average rate.

Most credit cards ask one question — how much will I earn back? The Wellness Plus asks a different one: will you use the gym, the check-ups and the consultations? Answer honestly before you apply, because that single answer decides whether this card is good value or a quiet drain on your wallet.

What you actually get

The headline is the wellness bundle, and it is genuinely substantial:

  • 12 complimentary fitness sessions every month — yoga, Zumba and gym.
  • An annual health check-up (per the Aditya Birla Activ Health list) — complete it within 90 days of card issuance or renewal and YES adds a ₹500 Amazon voucher.
  • Unlimited teleconsultations with specialists, doctors and nutritionists.

Priced individually, those services would run well past ₹1,499 a year for a household that uses them. That is the card's core proposition, and it is a real one — provided the sessions and check-ups fit your routine rather than sitting unused as good intentions.

On spend, the card is modest. You earn 6 YES Reward Points per ₹200 on general spends — roughly 0.6% at YES Bank's typical point value — stepping up to 30 points per ₹200 (about 3%) at pharmacies and chemist stores, which is a sensible fit for a health card and the one earn rate here worth chasing. Points redeem on the YES rewardz portal for vouchers, products and travel, and a per-request redemption fee applies, so redeem in larger, less frequent batches.

Rounding out the card are 2 domestic airport lounge visits per quarter (across 30-plus Indian lounges) and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on refuelling between ₹500 and ₹3,000 (capped ₹250 a month). The lounge access is spend-gated in the usual YES Bank way — you must spend ₹50,000 in the previous quarter to unlock the next quarter's visits — and guests are charged, so don't count on it as a plus-one perk.

The fee is the catch

Here is the part that changes the decision: per YES Bank's Most Important Terms and Conditions, the ₹1,499 annual fee is not waivable on spend. There is no "spend ₹X and we'll refund it" escape hatch. You pay ₹1,499 in year one and every year after.

That turns the card into a simple value test. The wellness services need to be worth more than ₹1,499 a year to you — not in theory, but in sessions you'll attend and check-ups you'll book. A couple who use the fitness classes weekly and take the annual health check-up (pocketing the ₹500 Amazon voucher for doing it within 90 days) will clear that bar without much thought. Someone who signs up meaning to get fit, and then doesn't, is simply paying ₹1,499 to earn 0.6% — a bad trade.

The Wellness Plus rewards intention followed by action. If you'll use the gym sessions and the check-ups, it's quietly good value. If you won't, no reward rate on this card is high enough to rescue it.

Where it fits — and where it doesn't

Think of the Wellness Plus as a health membership that happens to be a credit card, and hold it alongside a stronger everyday card rather than as your main one. Let a good cashback or rewards card carry your general spend, route your pharmacy purchases here for the 5X, and treat the fitness sessions and consultations as the real return on the fee. Used that way, it slots neatly into a small wallet.

It is the wrong card if you're shopping on reward rate. The base 0.6% trails almost every mid-tier alternative, the fee can't be waived, and the lounge access is gated behind a real spend threshold. If health services aren't something you'll use, a general rewards card such as a YES Bank travel option — or, for a genuine premium experience, the YES Bank Marquee — will return far more per rupee. And if you want lounge access without the spend gate, look higher up the range at cards like the YES Bank Reserv.

The bottom line

The YES Bank Wellness Plus is refreshingly honest about what it is: a wellness card first and a rewards card a distant second. The 12 monthly fitness sessions, free check-ups and unlimited consultations are real benefits that can outrun the ₹1,499 fee for the right household, and the 5X pharmacy earn is a thoughtful touch. But the fee doesn't waive, the base rate is weak, and the lounge access is spend-gated — so this is a card you buy for services you'll use, not for the points. Make that call clearly, and you'll know within a minute whether the Wellness Plus is for you.

I have spent over a decade on Indian credit cards, mostly for the points and miles. I am a software engineer by profession, I hold and use the cards I write about, and I redeem through airline and hotel transfer partners: Avios, KrisFlyer, Flying Blue, Air India Maharaja Club, Accor ALL, Marriott Bonvoy and Taj. What I write about is what a card is actually worth after the fine print, the caps and exclusions that decide the real return, and the changes issuers make quietly. No paid placements.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the YES Bank Wellness Plus earn on spends?
6 YES Reward Points per ₹200 on general spends — about 0.6% — rising to 30 points per ₹200 (roughly 3%) at pharmacies and chemist stores. Points redeem on the YES rewardz portal, and a per-request redemption fee applies. The base rate is below average, so treat rewards as a bonus, not the reason to hold the card.
What wellness benefits does the card include?
12 complimentary fitness sessions each month — yoga, Zumba and gym — plus an annual health check-up (per the Aditya Birla Activ Health list) and unlimited teleconsultations with specialists, doctors and nutritionists. There is also a ₹500 Amazon voucher if you complete the health check-up within 90 days of card issuance or renewal. These services are the card's real value, and you need to use them to justify the fee.
Is the ₹1,499 annual fee waivable?
No. Per YES Bank's Most Important Terms and Conditions the annual fee is not waivable on spend, so you pay ₹1,499 every year regardless of how much you spend. That makes the maths simple: use more than ₹1,499 worth of the wellness services, or the card doesn't pay for itself.
Does the Wellness Plus offer airport lounge access?
Yes — 2 complimentary domestic lounge visits per quarter across 30-plus Indian lounges, but only after you spend ₹50,000 in the previous quarter (it is spend-gated). There is no international lounge access, and guests are charged.
Who should get the YES Bank Wellness Plus?
Someone who will genuinely attend the monthly fitness sessions, use the free check-ups and consultations, and buys medicines regularly enough to benefit from the 5X pharmacy earn. If you won't use the health services, a plain cashback or rewards card will serve you far better.
