IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card

The IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card is the entry rung of the IndiGo × Axis co-brand launched on the IndiGo BluChip loyalty programme. It earns 3 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo bookings (flights, 6E add-ons, the app), 2 per ₹100 on grocery and dining, and 1 per ₹100 on everything else. The joining and annual fee is ₹799, more than covered by a 1,200-BluChip welcome voucher and a matching 1,200-BluChip renewal voucher each year — though each voucher lapses six months after it is issued. Two spend milestones — ₹1.5 lakh and ₹3 lakh a year — each add another 1,200 BluChips, and the card carries one complimentary domestic lounge visit per quarter, unlocked by spending ₹50,000 in the previous three months. The catch is the currency itself: neither Axis nor IndiGo publishes a fixed redemption rate, and BluChips buy nothing but IndiGo fares, at a price that moves with the fare. We value a BluChip at 42 paise — the figure our transfer data carries for the currency — so 3 per ₹100 reads as roughly 1.3% back in flight value, and what any single booking returns can land either side of that.

For an IndiGo regular the maths is simple: the ₹799 fee is covered outright by the annual 1,200-BluChip voucher, the milestones reward steady spend, and BluChips are genuinely useful if you fly IndiGo anyway. But BluChips are a closed currency with no published rate — we value them at 42 paise apiece, which reads the 3/2/1 earn rates as roughly 1.3%/0.8%/0.4%, while the fare you book decides what you actually get and no BluChip can be moved to another airline or taken as cash. If you want everyday value or transferable miles, a general rewards card serves you better; if you want the premium IndiGo tier, step up to the IndiGo Axis Bank Premium.

In-depth review

IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card

The entry rung of the IndiGo × Axis co-brand on the IndiGo BluChip programme — 3 BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo, 2 on grocery and dining, 1 elsewhere, for a ₹799 fee that a 1,200-BluChip renewal voucher mostly offsets. Genuinely useful if IndiGo is your default airline, but BluChips are a closed, dynamically-priced currency worth about 42 paise each, so the real return is well below the headline rates.

Who is this for?

This card suits someone who flies IndiGo several times a year, books directly on the IndiGo app or website, and is happy redeeming BluChips straight back into IndiGo tickets. If IndiGo is your default airline and you want the co-brand's welcome voucher, milestone BluChips and a quarterly lounge visit for a modest ₹799, it does its job. It is not a card for someone chasing flexible, transferable travel value.

Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • 3 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo bookings — useful if IndiGo is your default airline
  • ₹799 fee covered outright by a 1,200-BluChip annual renewal voucher
  • Spend milestones at ₹1.5L and ₹3L each add 1,200 BluChips
  • One complimentary domestic lounge visit per quarter

✕ Cons

  • IndiGo BluChips redeem only toward IndiGo fares at a dynamic, unpublished rate and cannot be transferred or cashed out — the 3/2/1 earn rates are worth whatever your own IndiGo bookings return
  • No international lounge access and lounge visits are spend-gated (₹50,000 in the prior quarter)
  • No fuel surcharge waiver, and rent/wallet/fuel/utilities/insurance/government/jewellery/tolls and bridge & road fees/gift cards/EMI/cash earn nothing
  • Welcome, renewal and milestone vouchers lapse six months after issue, and Axis states it cannot extend the validity
  • Axis charges a 1% surcharge on rent (uncapped) and on wallet loads, online skill-based gaming, utility and fuel spends past monthly thresholds — most of which earn no BluChips either

The concern

IndiGo BluChips have no published rupee value — neither Axis nor IndiGo fixes a redemption rate — and they buy nothing but IndiGo fares, at a price that moves with the fare. They cannot be transferred or cashed out, so the card is worth exactly what your own IndiGo bookings make it worth.

Frequently asked questions

How many BluChips does the card earn?
Three IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo spends, two per ₹100 on grocery and dining, and one per ₹100 on all other eligible spends. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 0.84% on dining, against 0.42% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. It reaches 1.26% at IndiGo, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
What is an IndiGo BluChip worth?
Nobody publishes a rate. Axis states it has no role in setting the redemption value, and IndiGo says BluChips hold no monetary value in themselves — they buy IndiGo fares at a price that moves with the fare. We value a BluChip at 42 paise, the same as every other IndiGo co-brand we cover, which reads 3 BluChips per ₹100 as roughly 1.3% back in flight value. BluChips cannot be transferred or cashed out.
What is the fee, and is it waived?
The joining and annual fee is ₹799 plus GST, and Axis publishes no spend-based waiver. A 1,200-BluChip welcome voucher and a matching 1,200-BluChip renewal voucher each year more than cover it for an active IndiGo flyer — but each voucher is valid for only six months from issue. The renewal fee is ₹799 plus 18% GST — ₹943 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Figures as of October 2026.
Does the card offer airport lounge access?
One complimentary domestic lounge visit per quarter, unlocked once you spend ₹50,000 in the previous three months. There is no international lounge access on this card. As per the card's current benefit schedule: 1 complimentary domestic airport lounge visit per quarter (4/year), unlocked by ₹50,000 spend in the preceding 3 months. No international lounge access. Figures as of October 2026.
What are the milestone benefits?
Two annual spend milestones — ₹1.5 lakh and ₹3 lakh — each add a 1,200-BluChip voucher, for 2,400 milestone BluChips in a full year on top of earnings. The current milestone schedule: 1,200 IndiGo BluChips when annual spend reaches ₹1.5 lakh. Fully hit, that is worth about ₹504 a year on top of regular earn. Figures as of October 2026.
How will Axis apply my payment across the outstanding balance from 28 August 2026?
From 28 August 2026 Axis clears a credit card payment in this order — fees and charges including taxes, then EMIs, then interest charges, then purchase transactions, and cash advances last. That swaps the final two: the order it replaced cleared cash advances fourth and purchases last. It only bites if you pay less than the full statement balance, because a part-payment now settles purchases before it reaches a cash advance — and Axis charges interest on a cash advance from the day of withdrawal, with no interest-free period, so the costliest balance is the one left outstanding longest. Paying the statement balance in full makes the order irrelevant.

2026

  1. ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

Dynamic currency conversion markup more than doubles to 3.5%

    1.5% + GST→3.5% + GST

Axis Bank raised the dynamic currency conversion mark-up from 1.5% to 3.5% plus GST. DCC applies when an overseas merchant offers to bill you in rupees instead of the local currency, and it stacks on top of the usual foreign-currency mark-up. Declining the rupee option at the terminal and paying in the local currency avoids the charge entirely.

  2. ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

New top late-payment slab of Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000

Rs 1,200 on any total payment due above Rs 10,000→Rs 1,200 from Rs 10,001 to Rs 50,000; Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000

Axis Bank added a fifth late-payment slab. Everything up to Rs 50,000 is unchanged, but a total payment due of more than Rs 50,000 now attracts Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,200. The same notice fixes the order in which a payment is applied to the outstanding: fees and charges including taxes first, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

  3. ▼ RewardObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

Tolls and road fees stop earning rewards; gift cards split into their own category

Bridge fees, road fees and tolls earned at the normal rate→No rewards or cashback on bridge fees, road fees and tolls

Axis Bank added bridge fees, road fees and tolls to the spends that earn nothing. Separately, gift card purchases move out of the Wallet spend category into a new Gift Card category; they already earned no rewards, and they continue to be excluded from spend-based fee waivers and milestone thresholds.

Verification: Axis Bank ↗ · Confidence: High

  4. ▲ WelcomeEffective 3 Jul 2026

    Welcome BluChips temporarily doubled

    1,200 BluChips→2,400 BluChips + 6E Eats voucher

For new applications submitted through 31 July 2026 (extended from an original 30 June 2026 window), Axis Bank doubled the base card's welcome voucher from 1,200 to 2,400 IndiGo BluChips plus a 6E Eats voucher. This is a limited-time acquisition promotion, not a permanent change to the card's standard 1,200-BluChip welcome/renewal terms.

Verification: CardAdvisor Research · Confidence: High

  5. ◆ LaunchEffective 18 Feb 2026

IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card launches

Axis Bank and IndiGo launched the entry-tier IndiGo Axis Bank Credit Card (₹799+GST) alongside a Premium sibling, earning IndiGo BluChips at 3/₹100 on IndiGo, 2/₹100 on grocery & dining and 1/₹100 elsewhere. BluChips are a dynamic, fare-linked currency redeemable only against IndiGo bookings — not a fixed-value point — so the headline 3/2/1 rates run closer to ~1.5%/1%/0.5% real return in practice.
