HDFC PIXEL Go Credit Card

The HDFC Pixel Go is HDFC's entry-most digital card, positioned a rung below the Pixel Play. It keeps things simple — a flat 1% unlimited cashback on all eligible spends (as PIXEL CashPoints, worth ₹1 each), 5% on HDFC SmartBuy capped at 500 CashPoints a month, and 1% on UPI on the RuPay rail. What you give up versus the Pixel Play is the customisable 5% category packs and the 3% nominated platform — not lounge access, because NEITHER PIXEL card has any. In exchange the fee is half (₹250 vs ₹500). The ₹250 joining fee is reversed on ₹10,000 spend in 90 days and renewal waives at ₹50,000 a year. HDFC issues PIXEL on both rails as standard — RuPay as a digital card and Visa as the physical plastic, sharing one limit and one statement. Fuel, rent, EMI, wallet and gift-card loads, vouchers, government spends and cash advances all earn nothing. A clean, fully-digital first card issued instantly via PayZapp.

The Pixel Go is a no-frills flat-1% digital card that does exactly what it says at a low ₹250 fee. It is the right pick over the Pixel Play only if you value simplicity and a lower fee over the Play's three separately-capped accelerators — otherwise the Play earns its extra ₹250 back easily. Neither card offers lounge access, so that is not part of the choice. As a clean, instantly-issued first card, it is fine; as a rewards optimiser, it is deliberately basic.

In-depth review

HDFC PIXEL Go Credit Card

HDFC's entry-most digital card, sitting one rung below the Pixel Play: a flat 1% unlimited cashback (as CashPoints, ₹1 each), 5% on SmartBuy capped at 500 CashPoints a month, and 1% on UPI on the RuPay variant — all at a low ₹250 fee. What you give up for that half-price fee is the Play's customisable 5% packs and its 3% on a chosen e-commerce platform. Neither card carries lounge access. It's the right pick only if you value simplicity and the lowest fee over earning power.

Should you get it?

  • Best for: Digital-first first-timers who want a simple flat-cashback card, UPI-heavy users on the RuPay variant who don't need lounge access
  • Entry tier — great for first-time and lower-spend users.

Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • Simple flat 1% unlimited cashback on all eligible spends
  • 5% on HDFC SmartBuy; 1% on UPI via the RuPay rail, issued alongside Visa as standard
  • Low ₹250 fee, reversed/waived on modest spend
  • Fully digital, instant issuance via PayZapp

✕ Cons

  • Flat 1% base is unremarkable — no customisable 5% category packs like the Pixel Play
  • No airport lounge access — though the Pixel Play has none either, so it is not a reason to trade up
  • CashPoints redeem into PayZapp only, minimum 500 — HDFC publishes no statement-credit route
  • Fuel, rent, EMI, wallet and gift-card loads, vouchers, government spends and cash advances earn nothing
  • Transactions under ₹100 earn no CashPoints at all

The concern

A flat 1% is unremarkable in 2026 — without the Pixel Play's 5% packs, a modest spender will out-earn this card with almost any focused cashback rival.

Frequently asked questions

What is 1 CashPoint worth, and how do I redeem?
1 CashPoint = 1 PayZapp CashPoint. HDFC's terms state one redemption route only: "The CashPoints will be transferred to the PayZapp Cashpoints account post placing the redemption request in the app", with a minimum balance of 500 CashPoints. Statement credit is not offered on this card — that is a PIXEL-specific limitation, not the usual HDFC arrangement. Points are valid 2 years.
How does the Pixel Go differ from the Pixel Play?
Half the fee (₹250 vs ₹500). The Go is flat 1% only; the Play adds three separately-capped accelerators — 5% on any two merchant packs you pick, 5% on SmartBuy and 3% on one nominated platform, each capped at 500 CashPoints a month. Neither card has lounge access, so that is not part of the trade. The Play's 1% base is also capped at 15,000 CashPoints a month since April 2026, where the Go's remains genuinely unlimited.
What are the fee waivers?
The joining fee is reversed on ₹10,000 spend within 90 days; the renewal fee waives on ₹50,000 of annual spend. ⚠ HDFC's own product page states the joining-fee threshold twice and differently — the benefits block and FAQ say ₹10,000, the fee block says ₹90,000. The MITC settles it at ₹10,000: "Spend Rs. 10,000 in first 90 days and get the joining fee waived.". The renewal fee is ₹250 plus 18% GST — ₹295 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹50,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹4,167 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
Does it support UPI?
Yes. HDFC issues PIXEL on both networks as standard — if you do not choose within 3 days of approval, you get a RuPay digital card and a Visa physical card together, sharing one credit limit and one monthly statement. The RuPay side earns 1% on UPI spends, capped 500 CashPoints a month. Note UPI payments carry no fuel surcharge, so no fuel-surcharge waiver applies on that rail.

How this page was built

Counted from this card’s own record: 2 earn rules, 1 of them capped, 1 paid only at named merchants, the spends listed as earning nothing and 1 recorded perk. The renewal fee is conditional — it is waived on a published spend target, so the fee you pay depends on what you spend.

2026

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 15 May 2026

Dynamic currency conversion markup raised to 1.75%

    1% markup→1.75% markup

HDFC's MITC: "Dynamic currency conversion Markup Fee: With effect from 15th May 2026, a Markup fee of 1.75% will be levied on all transactions carried out in Indian Currency at an international location or at merchants which are located in India but registered overseas." This is separate from, and stacks on top of, the card's ordinary foreign-currency markup. It is the charge you pay for accepting a terminal's offer to bill you in rupees while abroad - always decline that offer and pay in the local currency. It also catches India-based purchases from merchants registered overseas, which is easy to trigger without leaving the country. The PIXEL MITC dates the same change 17 May 2026.

2025

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 1 Jul 2025

1% fee added on rent, wallet loads and online gaming

No category surcharge on rent, wallet loads or gaming→1% on rent (cap Rs 4,999 per transaction); 1% on wallet loads and on online skill-based gaming above Rs 10,000 a calendar month (cap Rs 4,999 a month)

HDFC's MITC: "Rent Pay Transactions: W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee on transaction amount will be levied on rental transactions... Fee capped at Rs 4999 per transaction"; "Wallet Loading (excl PayZapp) - W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee will be levied on Wallet loading spends exceeding Rs 10,000 in a calendar month"; "Online Skill based Gaming - W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee... exceeding Rs 10,000 in a calendar month". These are charges on top of the fact that most HDFC cards already earn zero reward points on the same categories - you pay to spend, and earn nothing for it. PayZapp wallet loads are exempt from the wallet fee.

  2. ▼ FeeEffective 1 Jul 2025

1% fee on utilities above Rs 50,000 and on third-party education payments

No surcharge on utility or education payments→1% on utility spends above Rs 50,000 a calendar month (cap Rs 4,999 a month); 1% on education paid through third-party apps

HDFC's MITC: "Utility Charges: 1% fee will be levied on utility spends exceeding Rs 50,000 per Calendar month for consumer cards... Fee capped at Rs 4999 per month"; "Education Charges: 1% fee... on Education transactions done through third party applications like (but not limited to) CRED, Nobroker, Cheq etc." Paying school or college fees DIRECTLY to the institution is not charged - only routing them through a third-party app is. A 1% fee also applies to fuel transactions above Rs 15,000.

  3. ▼ RewardEffective 1 Jul 2025

Insurance reward points capped, online gaming stops earning

Insurance uncapped on most cards; online skill-based gaming earned points→Insurance capped at 2,000 reward points a month (5,000 on Diners Black, 10,000 on Infinia); online skill-based gaming earns nothing

HDFC's MITC: "With effect from 1st July 2025, Reward Points accrued for insurance transactions will have a maximum cap of... 2000 per month for all other credit cards" and "With effect from 1st July 2025, Online Skill-Based gaming transactions will not earn Reward Points/CashPoints on all the cards." Insurance premiums are a common way to hit a milestone quickly, so the cap matters more than its size suggests.

2024

  1. ◆ LaunchEffective 14 May 2024

PIXEL Go launched — entry-level flat-cashback digital card

HDFC Bank launched PIXEL Go alongside PIXEL Play as its first end-to-end, app-based, PayZapp-sourced digital credit-card range on the Visa network. PIXEL Go is the beginner variant: flat 1% unlimited cashback (as CashPoints, 1 = ₹1), 5% on HDFC SmartBuy capped at 500 CashPoints a month, and Pay-in-Parts flexibility, at a ₹250 joining/renewal fee (reversed on ₹10,000 spend in 90 days, waived on ₹50,000 a year). No customisable 5% category packs and no lounge access — the two things it gives up versus PIXEL Play.
