Pros and cons
Pros
- 10X points on BookMyShow, Myntra, Cleartrip, Netmeds and other online partners (Amazon now earns 5X)
- Annual fee extremely low at ₹499
- Cleartrip/Yatra vouchers worth ₹4,000 at ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of online spend
- ₹499 fee waived at ₹1L annual spend
Cons
- 3.5% forex markup
- Reward points require minimum 2,000 for redemption
Quick verdict: The entry-level online shopping card done right — 10X on a set of online partner brands (Apollo 24x7, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, Gyftr, Myntra, Tata CLiQ and more), 5X on all other online spend, plus twice-yearly Cleartrip/Yatra vouchers worth ₹2,000 each at ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of online spend that return several times the ₹499 fee. One thing to know: Amazon was dropped from the 10X partner list — it now earns the ordinary 5X online rate (a ₹500 Amazon welcome voucher remains). Still one of the better budget online cards; upgrade to SBI Cashback once your online spend grows.
The SBI SimplyCLICK is the entry-level online shopping card done right — accelerated rewards on the platforms people actually use, plus twice-yearly milestone vouchers that reliably return several times its modest fee. For a moderate online spender who isn't ready for the (better, but pricier-feeling) SBI Cashback card, the SimplyCLICK is the natural starting point. It's been trimmed in 2025–26 like everything in SBI's lineup — most notably Amazon dropping off the 10X partner list — but it remains one of the better budget online cards going.
What it earns
The SimplyCLICK rewards online partners and milestones:
- 10X reward points on online partner brands — **Apollo 24x7, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, Dominos, Gyftr,
IGP, Myntra, Netmeds, Swiggy, Tata CLiQ and Yatra** (~2.5% at ₹0.25/point). Gyftr is the one worth knowing about: it is a gift-voucher portal, so it is an indirect 10X route into a lot of merchants that are not on this list.
- 5X reward points on all other online spends, including Amazon and Flipkart (~1.25%).
- The 5X tier is capped at 10,000 reward points a calendar month — past that, further online spend
drops to the base 1 point per ₹100. At 5 points per ₹100 that cap binds only at about ₹2 lakh a month of other online spend, so no ordinary holder of a ₹499 card will ever reach it. SBI's current reward T&C states no cap on the 10X partner tier — a 10X cap did exist (the 2021 MITC booklet capped each tier at 10,000 points a month w.e.f. 1 October 2020, which at 10 points per ₹100 would have bound at ₹1 lakh a month of partner spend), but the clause is absent from the T&C SBI publishes today.
- A 1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹3,000 transactions, capped at ₹100 a statement cycle. It is one
of SBI's three headline benefits for this card and we had been omitting it entirely.
- 1X on offline spends (a token base, ~0.25%).
- Milestone vouchers: Cleartrip/Yatra e-vouchers worth ₹2,000 each on reaching **₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh
of annual ONLINE spend — the feature that reliably out-earns the fee. Read that word carefully: the vouchers are gated on online spend, while the ₹499 fee waiver is gated on total** spend. They are not the same bar, and a card that earns 10X online but is used mostly offline clears the second and misses the first.
- A ₹500 Amazon e-gift voucher as a welcome benefit on fee payment.
- ₹499 fee, waived at ₹1 lakh of annual spend.
The milestone vouchers are the quiet hero: a regular online spender who hits ₹1 lakh banks a ₹2,000 voucher (and ₹4,000 total at ₹2 lakh), which alone returns several times the ₹499 fee — before any 10X earning. That's what makes the SimplyCLICK genuinely good value rather than just adequate.
The 2025–26 trims
SBI pared the card, in line with its broader reward-program tightening, and refreshed the partner list:
- Amazon was dropped from the 10X partner list — the single biggest change, since many holders bought the
card precisely as an "Amazon card." Amazon spend now earns the ordinary 5X online rate, not 10X (though the ₹500 Amazon welcome voucher survives).
- The 10X partner roster grew — Gyftr and Tata CLiQ joined Dominos, Apollo 24x7, Myntra, IGP, Yatra and Swiggy (reinstated in 2025)
are the current accelerated brands alongside BookMyShow, Netmeds and Cleartrip.
- Reward points realise around 25 paise on portal redemption — a value that holds the effective rate
on the 10X brands to roughly 2.5%, and on general 5X online spend to about 1.25%.
These soften the everyday earn, but the milestone vouchers and welcome voucher keep the overall value proposition intact for an ordinary online spender.
Amit's receipt
Amit, 23, junior analyst, Hyderabad. ₹9,000/month total spend — shops online across Amazon and partner brands (Myntra, BookMyShow, Cleartrip), just starting his earning life.
| Component | Detail | Value/year |
|---|---|---|
| 10X partner brands | ₹2,000/mo × 10X × ₹0.25 = 2.5% effective | ₹600 |
| Amazon + other online | ₹4,000/mo × 5X × ₹0.25 = 1.25% | ₹600 |
| Offline base | ₹3,000/mo × 1X × ₹0.25 = 0.25% | ₹90 |
| Welcome voucher | ₹500 Amazon e-gift (year 1 only) | ₹500 |
| Milestone voucher | Not earned — ₹72,000/yr of ONLINE spend misses the ₹1 lakh online bar by ₹28,000 | ₹0 |
| Joining fee | ₹499 + GST in year 1; the ₹1 lakh spend (reached in month 12) waives renewals | −₹589 |
| Total year 1 | ~₹1,200 | |
| Total year 2+ | (no welcome voucher) | ~₹1,290 |
Amit does not get the milestone voucher, and that is the whole lesson of this receipt. His ₹1.08 lakh of annual spend clears the fee waiver, because the waiver counts total spend — but only ₹72,000 of it goes online, ₹28,000 short of the ₹1 lakh online bar the voucher is gated on. So he banks ₹1,290 from earn rates plus a ₹500 welcome voucher, and the card's single best feature stays out of reach. Move roughly ₹2,400 a month of his offline spend online and the ₹2,000 voucher lands — one change worth more than every reward point he earns in the year.
Versus the ENTRY market
The average ENTRY-tier card in our catalogue earns around 0.5% on general spend, often at zero fee. At Amit's ₹9,000/month (₹1.08 lakh/year), a generic entry card returns ~₹540/year.
On Amit's mix the SBI SimplyCLICK returns ~₹1,200 net in year 1, after the ₹589 joining fee, and ~₹1,290 annually thereafter, once his spend waives the renewal — 2.2× the entry-tier average in year 1 and 2.4× steady. That margin comes from the earn rates alone, because his online spend never reaches the milestone bar: 5X on everything bought online beats a flat 0.5% on everything, and the fee waives itself. The ₹2,000 milestone voucher — a flat benefit a percentage-based generic card can't replicate — would roughly double the gap again, but only for a holder who puts ₹1 lakh a year through online channels. The correct exit point is when online spend crosses ~₹8,000/month, at which point the SBI Cashback's flat 5% outperforms the SimplyCLICK.
The honest read
The SimplyCLICK is a budget online card with a clear upgrade path. Its 10X partners and milestone vouchers make it reliably worth the ₹499 for someone spending moderately online. But point values outside the accelerated categories are low, and its own sibling — the SBI Cashback card (5% on online shopping) — renders it redundant above roughly ₹8,000/month of online spend. So the sensible path is: start on the SimplyCLICK if you're a moderate online spender or first-timer, enjoy the vouchers, and graduate to the SBI Cashback card once your online spending grows enough to justify it.
Who should hold it
The SimplyCLICK suits the moderate online spender or first-time cardholder who'll hit the ₹1 lakh milestone for the voucher and wants a low-fee online rewards card — spreading spend across the 10X partner brands and earning 5X on everything else online. For that person, the milestone-plus-welcome vouchers reliably beat the fee.
It's the wrong card for the heavy online spender (the SBI Cashback card's flat 5% does more above ~₹8,000/month), for offline-heavy spenders (the base rate is a token 1X, about 0.25%), and for anyone wanting high redemption value (SBI points are worth ₹0.25 and need portal redemption).
The bottom line
The SBI SimplyCLICK is the budget online shopping card done right — 10X on a set of online partner brands and 5X on all other online spend, plus Cleartrip/Yatra milestone vouchers worth ₹2,000 each at ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of annual online spend that return several times the ₹499 fee for anyone whose online spend reaches those bars, even before the 10X earning. The 2025–26 trims (Amazon dropped from the 10X partner list) softened it, but the milestone-and-welcome vouchers keep it genuinely worthwhile for a moderate online spender. Its clear limitation is that the SBI Cashback sibling out-earns it above ~₹8,000/month of online spend. So treat the SimplyCLICK as the right starting online card — bank the vouchers, then upgrade to the Cashback card as your online spending grows. For a moderate online shopper not yet ready for that step, it's a smart, low-cost first move.
