In-depth review
Miles & More Axis Bank World Credit Card
India's only card that earns directly into Miles & More, the Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance loyalty programme. It earns 4 Award Miles per ₹200 that never expire while the card is active, with a 5,000-mile welcome — but a 3.5% forex markup means it's a card to earn on at home and redeem in the air.

Full reward structure
What you earn on every rupee, per spend category — as of 11 Oct 2026. Rates assume 1 pt = ₹1.00. How we value points →

| Other | airline miles | 2%2 pts/₹100 × ₹1.00 | — |
Other: 4 Miles & More Award Miles per ₹200 (~2% in miles); miles never expire while the card is active
Earns nothing on: Rent · Fuel · Wallet Loads · Government & Tax · Insurance · Utility Bills · EMI Conversions · Cash Advances · Gold / jewellery · Tolls & Road Fees · Gift Cards & Vouchers
These spends earn no rewards at all — not a reduced rate, and not the base rate. They are also normally left out of any milestone or fee-waiver calculation.

Should you get it?
- Best for: Star Alliance loyalist (Lufthansa, Swiss, Singapore Airlines), Slow mile collector who values non-expiring balances, Traveller who redeems award tickets rather than cashing out
- Premium tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.
- Strongest value if you spend heavily on everyday spends (2% back).
- Frequent travellers benefit from the included airport lounge access.
Pros & cons
✓ Pros
- India's only card that earns directly into Miles & More (Lufthansa Group / Star Alliance)
- Award Miles never expire while the card is active — a genuine advantage for slow collectors
- 5,000 welcome Award Miles plus 3,000 on each renewal
- 4 Award Miles per ₹200 on everyday spend, redeemable across Star Alliance carriers
✕ Cons
- 3.5% forex markup — high for a travel card, so avoid spending abroad on it
- Value depends entirely on redeeming Miles & More award tickets well; cashing out miles collapses the return
- Rent, fuel, wallet loads, government, insurance, utilities, EMIs, cash advances and gold/jewellery earn no Award Miles
- Axis levies 1% surcharges of its own — on rent, and on cumulative fuel of ₹50,000, wallet loads of ₹10,000, utilities of ₹25,000 and online skill-based gaming of ₹10,000 in a statement cycle
- Only 2 international lounge visits a year — thin for a travel-branded card

How to redeem rewards
Ways to convert what you earn into real value.

- 🎁Miles & More hotel bookings, car rentals and partner shopping.
- 🎁Award Miles never expire while the card is active — accumulate toward premium redemptions.
What your Lufthansa Miles & More Award Miles are worth
Realistic value per point by redemption route — the difference is what most people leave on the table.
₹1 per award mile, matching MILES_AND_MORE in partners.yml
The 3.5% forex markup is high for a travel card, so spending abroad on it is counter-productive; and the value hinges entirely on redeeming Miles & More award tickets well — cash out the miles and the return collapses.

The bottom line
As a rewards card the Miles & More World is ordinary — 4 miles per ₹200 and a steep 3.5% forex markup — but as the single Indian route into Miles & More it has no substitute. If you fly Star Alliance and know how to spend award miles, the non-expiring balance and 5,000-mile welcome make the ₹3,500 fee easy to justify. If you have no Star Alliance affinity, a plain cashback card will serve you better.

Dynamic currency conversion markup more than doubles to 3.5%
1.5% + GST→3.5% + GST
Axis Bank raised the dynamic currency conversion mark-up from 1.5% to 3.5% plus GST. DCC applies when an overseas merchant offers to bill you in rupees instead of the local currency, and it stacks on top of the usual foreign-currency mark-up. Declining the rupee option at the terminal and paying in the local currency avoids the charge entirely.

New top late-payment slab of Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000
Rs 1,200 on any total payment due above Rs 10,000→Rs 1,200 from Rs 10,001 to Rs 50,000; Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000
Axis Bank added a fifth late-payment slab. Everything up to Rs 50,000 is unchanged, but a total payment due of more than Rs 50,000 now attracts Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,200. The same notice fixes the order in which a payment is applied to the outstanding: fees and charges including taxes first, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

Tolls and road fees stop earning rewards; gift cards split into their own category
Bridge fees, road fees and tolls earned at the normal rate→No rewards or cashback on bridge fees, road fees and tolls
Axis Bank added bridge fees, road fees and tolls to the spends that earn nothing. Separately, gift card purchases move out of the Wallet spend category into a new Gift Card category; they already earned no rewards, and they continue to be excluded from spend-based fee waivers and milestone thresholds.

Bank-wide charges revision raises ancillary fees and standardises finance charge
Pre-revision Axis charge schedule→Finance charge standardised to 3.75%/month; higher DCC, cash-payment and rent-surcharge fees; new penalty and threshold fees
A portfolio-wide repricing effective 20 December 2024 applied to this card: the monthly finance/interest charge was standardised to 3.75% (as reflected in current terms), the dynamic currency conversion markup rose 1% → 1.5%, branch cash-payment fee ₹100 → ₹175, the rent-transaction surcharge became 1% uncapped, and new fees were introduced — an auto-debit-reversal/cheque-return fee (2%, min ₹500), a ₹100/month penalty for two consecutive missed minimum dues, and 1% fees on wallet loads, fuel, utility and online skill-based gaming spends above set thresholds (fuel above ₹50,000 a cycle, utilities above ₹25,000, wallet loads and gaming above ₹10,000). The card's core Award-Miles earning was untouched, and the new EDGE Rewards redemption/conversion fees do not apply because this card earns directly into Miles & More rather than EDGE points.

Miles & More co-brand moves to Axis Bank; the Miles & More World card launches
Axis Bank and Lufthansa's Miles & More frequent-flyer programme launched a co-branded credit card in India on the Mastercard network, taking over the Miles & More relationship from IndusInd Bank (effective end of June 2013). It is India's only card that earns directly into Miles & More Award Miles — a Star Alliance currency redeemable across Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, United, Singapore Airlines and 300+ partners — issued in a base World variant (4 Award Miles per ₹200) and an upgraded World Select variant.
