In-depth review
Miles & More Axis Bank World Select Credit Card
The upgraded tier of India's only Miles & More co-brand. It earns 6 Award Miles per ₹200 into Lufthansa's Star Alliance programme — miles that never expire while the card is active — with a 15,000-mile welcome and Priority Pass. The 3.5% forex markup is the catch.

The World Select is for the committed Star Alliance flyer who spends enough to justify the ₹10,000 entry and wants the higher 3% earn, the 15,000-mile head start and Priority Pass. If you fly Lufthansa, Swiss or Singapore Airlines regularly and redeem award tickets, this is the stronger of the two Miles & More cards.

What you earn on every rupee, per spend category — as of 11 Oct 2026. Rates assume 1 pt = ₹1.00. How we value points →
| Category | Type | Rate | Monthly cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Other | airline miles | 3%3 pts/₹100 × ₹1.00 | — |

Earns nothing on: Rent · Fuel · Wallet Loads · Government & Tax · Insurance · Utility Bills · EMI Conversions · Cash Advances · Gold / jewellery · Tolls & Road Fees · Gift Cards & Vouchers
These spends earn no rewards at all — not a reduced rate, and not the base rate. They are also normally left out of any milestone or fee-waiver calculation.

Should you get it?
- Best for: Committed Star Alliance flyer (Lufthansa, Swiss, Singapore Airlines), Higher spender who wants the 3% earn and Priority Pass, Traveller who redeems award tickets rather than cashing out
- Premium tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.
- Strongest value if you spend heavily on everyday spends (3% back).
- Frequent travellers benefit from the included airport lounge access.
Pros & cons
✓ Pros
- 6 Award Miles per ₹200 (~3% in miles) — the higher earn of the two Miles & More cards
- 15,000 welcome Award Miles plus 4,000 on each renewal
- Complimentary Priority Pass with 4 international visits, plus a strong domestic lounge allowance
- Award Miles never expire while the card is active, redeemable across Star Alliance carriers
✕ Cons
- 3.5% forex markup — high for a travel card, so avoid spending abroad on it
- ₹10,000 joining fee needs a real Star Alliance redemption plan to justify
- Value hinges on redeeming Miles & More award tickets well; cashing out miles collapses the return
- Rent, fuel, wallet loads, government, insurance, utilities, EMIs, cash advances and gold/jewellery earn no Award Miles
- Axis levies 1% surcharges of its own — on rent, and on cumulative fuel of ₹50,000, wallet loads of ₹10,000, utilities of ₹25,000 and online skill-based gaming of ₹10,000 in a statement cycle

Ways to convert what you earn into real value.

- 🎁Miles & More hotel bookings, car rentals and partner shopping.
- 🎁Award Miles never expire while the card is active — accumulate toward premium redemptions.
What your Lufthansa Miles & More Award Miles are worth
Realistic value per point by redemption route — the difference is what most people leave on the table.
₹1 per award mile, matching MILES_AND_MORE in partners.yml
The ₹10,000 joining fee and 3.5% forex markup make it a poor fit for anyone without a real Star Alliance redemption plan — the value lives almost entirely in Miles & More award tickets, so miles left unredeemed or cashed out waste the premium.

The bottom line
The World Select is the version of the Miles & More co-brand worth owning if you are serious about the programme: the 6-miles-per-₹200 earn, 15,000 welcome miles and Priority Pass justify the step up from the World card for a genuine Star Alliance flyer. The 3.5% forex markup remains its weak spot, so keep overseas spend on a low-forex card. Casual users with no Star Alliance affinity should look elsewhere.

- ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026
Dynamic currency conversion markup more than doubles to 3.5%
1.5% + GST→3.5% + GST
Axis Bank raised the dynamic currency conversion mark-up from 1.5% to 3.5% plus GST. DCC applies when an overseas merchant offers to bill you in rupees instead of the local currency, and it stacks on top of the usual foreign-currency mark-up. Declining the rupee option at the terminal and paying in the local currency avoids the charge entirely.

New top late-payment slab of Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000
Rs 1,200 on any total payment due above Rs 10,000→Rs 1,200 from Rs 10,001 to Rs 50,000; Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000
Axis Bank added a fifth late-payment slab. Everything up to Rs 50,000 is unchanged, but a total payment due of more than Rs 50,000 now attracts Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,200. The same notice fixes the order in which a payment is applied to the outstanding: fees and charges including taxes first, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

Tolls and road fees stop earning rewards; gift cards split into their own category
Bridge fees, road fees and tolls earned at the normal rate→No rewards or cashback on bridge fees, road fees and tolls
Axis Bank added bridge fees, road fees and tolls to the spends that earn nothing. Separately, gift card purchases move out of the Wallet spend category into a new Gift Card category; they already earned no rewards, and they continue to be excluded from spend-based fee waivers and milestone thresholds.

2024
- ▼ FeeEffective 20 Dec 2024
Bank-wide charges revision: DCC markup raised, new surcharges added
1% dynamic currency conversion markup; ₹100 cash payment at branch; 1% rent surcharge capped ₹1,500/txn; no wallet/fuel/utility spend surcharge→1.5% dynamic currency conversion markup; ₹175 cash payment at branch; 1% rent surcharge uncapped; new 1% surcharge on wallet loads >₹10,000, fuel >₹50,000, utility bills >₹25,000; new 2% (min ₹500) auto-debit reversal fee; new ₹100/month penalty for two consecutive missed minimum-due payments
A portfolio-wide repricing of ancillary fees effective 20 December 2024 hit every active Axis card, this one included. The standardised 3.75%/month finance charge shown in today's terms dates from this revision. The 3.5% forex markup and the ₹10,000 joining / ₹4,500 annual fees were not changed by this circular; the impact here is the higher DCC markup and the new cash-handling and high-value-spend surcharges. The circular's ₹99 EDGE rewards-redemption fee does not reach this card, which earns Miles & More Award Miles directly rather than EDGE Reward Points.

2013
- ◆ LaunchEffective 30 Jun 2013
Miles & More co-brand moved from IndusInd Bank to Axis Bank
Lufthansa's Miles & More credit-card partnership in India transferred to Axis Bank effective 30 June 2013, making Axis the sole issuer of India's only Miles & More co-brand and the founding event for this card's lineage. The programme now sits in two tiers — the base World card and this upgraded World Select — earning Miles & More Award Miles redeemable across Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance carriers. The exact date the World Select tier was introduced as an upgrade over the World card is not publicly documented, so this launch is dated to the co-brand's founding move to Axis.
