ICSI Diamond BOBCARD Credit Card

The ICSI Diamond BOBCARD is gated: it is offered only to active members of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. If you are not an ICSI member you cannot apply, whatever your income or credit score. For members who can, it is an unusually well-equipped free card — zero joining and annual fee, a 2% foreign-currency markup where most of the BOBCARD range charges 3.5%, 12 complimentary domestic lounge visits a year, and free professional indemnity cover up to ₹5 lakh. Earning is the modest part: 1 reward point per ₹100 (about 0.25%) on most spends, and 5 points per ₹100 (about 1.25%) on dining, online and utility bills under a single 1,000-point-per-statement cap shared across all three categories. The bigger lever is the quarterly milestone — 3,999 bonus points, very close to ₹1,000, for every quarter you spend ₹1 lakh. The card is issued on a RuPay (UPI-linked) rail; BOB does not publish the non-RuPay network. Read the exclusions closely: fuel, groceries, rent, education, government and insurance payments earn nothing at all.

CardAdvisor does not issue cards, take applications, or act as an agent or broker for BOBCARD. Apply opens bobcard.co.in; your application is submitted to and decided by BOBCARD.

For a Company Secretary judged on cost, this is a strong free card: 2% forex, 12 lounge visits and professional indemnity cover normally cost a fee somewhere. As a rewards card it is ordinary, with a weak 0.25% base, a 5X cap that tops out at ₹250 a month, and UPI payments that never earn the 5X rate. Most of its value sits in the ₹1 lakh/quarter milestone and the forex rate, so it suits an ICSI member who travels and spends steadily far more than a light user.

The concern

The reward exclusions are unusually wide — fuel, groceries, rent, education, government payments, insurance and wallet loads earn nothing, and the 1,000-point 5X cap is shared across dining, online and utilities rather than granted per category.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply if I am not an ICSI member?
No. The ICSI Diamond BOBCARD is offered only to active members of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and membership is verified at application. There is no route in for non-members, regardless of income or credit score.
Which network or rail does this card come on?
It is issued on the RuPay (UPI-linked) rail, per BOB's own UPI-eligibility flag for this card — it links to UPI apps, though UPI spends earn only the core 1 point per ₹100 and never the 5X bonus. BOB does not publish which non-RuPay network, if any, the card is issued on.
What is a BOBCARD reward point worth?
1 reward point is worth ₹0.25 when redeemed as cashback, which is what BOBCARD states officially. That makes the 5 points per ₹100 rate worth about 1.25% and the 1 point per ₹100 base about 0.25%. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1.25% on dining (rewards capped at ₹250 a month in that category), against 0.25% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. Figures as of October 2026.
Why is the quarterly milestone 3,999 points and not 4,000?
3,999 points a quarter, against 4,000 on the ICAI Exclusive and CMA One. It is a one-point difference worth a quarter of a rupee. Apart from CMA One's ₹1 joining fee, the three cards match on fees, rewards, lounge access and insurance. Do not read anything into it. The current milestone schedule: 3,999 bonus reward points each quarter you spend more than ₹1 lakh (or your credit limit, whichever is higher) — up to 15,996 points (~₹3,999) a year at ₹1 lakh every quarter. Fully hit, that is worth about ₹3,999 a year on top of regular earn. Figures as of October 2026.
What does the card cost?
Zero joining fee and zero annual fee — it is lifetime free. The foreign-currency markup is 2%, against 3.5% on most other BOBCARDs, and the finance charge is 3.75% per month (45% a year).
How has the ICSI Diamond BOBCARD Credit Card changed over time?

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 1 Jul 2025

Finance charge raised to 3.75% per month

    3.25% per month (39% p.a.)→3.75% per month (45% p.a.)

Effective 1 July 2025 BOBCARD revised the monthly finance charge on carried balances and cash advances to 3.75% (45% a year) for all card variants except Eterna, Eterna FD and Tiara. This is the change behind the card's current 3.75%/month rate — it only applies if you revolve a balance or take a cash advance.

  2. ▼ RedemptionEffective 1 Jul 2025

Minimum redemption raised to 1,000 points

Lower / no fixed minimum→1,000 points minimum

Effective 1 July 2025 redeeming reward points against the statement balance requires a minimum of 1,000 points, applied across all BOBCARD credit-card variants — a small delay to when points become usable.

Verification: BOBCARD ↗ · Confidence: High

  3. ▲ RewardEffective 1 Jul 2025

Utility bill payments earn reward points again

No reward points on utility bills→Core reward points restored on utility bills

From 1 July 2025 BOBCARD restored core reward points on utility bill payments (MCC 4900 — electricity, gas, water) across all variants, partly reversing the July 2024 special-category cull that had zeroed them out. Earning is at the card's core base rate, not an accelerated rate.

Verification: BOBCARD ↗ · Confidence: High

  4. ▼ RewardEffective 1 Jan 2025

Core reward points removed on wallet-load spends

Core points on wallet loads→No points on wallet-load MCCs (6539–6542)

Effective 1 January 2025, wallet-loading transactions (MCCs 6539–6542) stopped earning core reward points across the BOBCARD portfolio, ICSI Diamond included — so topping up a wallet now earns nothing on the card.

Verification: BOBCARD ↗ · Confidence: High

  5. ▼ LoungeEffective 1 Jan 2025

Domestic lounge access gated to a quarterly spend

12 visits a year (3 per quarter), no spend condition→12 visits a year (3 per quarter), only after ₹40,000 spend in the preceding quarter

From 1 January 2025 the 12 complimentary domestic lounge visits (3 per quarter) became conditional on spending at least ₹40,000 in the preceding calendar quarter, waived only for the quarter a card is issued. ICSI Diamond is named explicitly in BOBCARD's lounge-revision notice, and its current product page still states the ₹40,000 rule.
