IDFC FIRST Millennia Credit Card

The IDFC FIRST Millennia is a lifetime-free entry card with decent online rewards, but its real distinction is among the lowest interest-rate floors in India — from 0.71%/month (8.5% p.a.), risk-priced up to 3.85%/month (46.2% p.a.), versus a ~42% p.a. industry norm. It earns 10X (~1.25%) on dining and travel, 3X on all other spends and 1X on utilities/insurance/railway/FASTag (points worth ₹0.25 each). Since IDFC removed its forex markup in September 2026 (KFS dated 15 Sep 2026) it costs nothing extra abroad, though from 26 October 2026 international spends earn no reward points. For a first card, that low-interest safety net matters more than a slightly higher cashback rate. The June 2026 revision was mixed — points now expire after 24 months and earning is capped to your credit limit per cycle, but the 10X rate no longer needs any minimum spend. (The old 6X-online accelerator had already been cut to 3X on 1 May 2024.) Get it for the safety margin; let a category card handle pure rewards.

The concern

Earn rates outside the dining and travel accelerators are average, international spends earn nothing from 26 October 2026, points now expire after 24 months, and IDFC's redemption catalogue is limited — the card's genius is its safety net, not its rewards.

Frequently asked questions

Is there really no annual fee?
Yes — truly lifetime free. No joining fee and no annual fee for eligible applicants.
What is the finance charge if I carry a balance?
From 0.71% per month (8.5% p.a.) up to 3.85% per month (46.2% p.a.), risk-priced by profile. The floor is far below the industry 3.6-3.75%/month, though most applicants will not receive the floor.
What earns 10X reward points?
10X (~1.25%) applies to dining and travel spends plus birthday spends, with no minimum-spend threshold since the 18 June 2026 revision. International spends were in the 10X set until 26 October 2026, when IDFC stopped reward points on them. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1.25% on dining, against 0.38% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. Figures as of October 2026.
Is the card UPI-linked?
Yes — via the FIRST Digital RuPay add-on card, which links to Google Pay and PhonePe for credit-card payments on UPI. Note the add-on carries its own joining and annual fee of ₹199 + GST.
What is 1 reward point worth?
₹0.25 per point. 10X on dining/travel = ~1.25% effective; points expire 24 months after being earned.

IDFC FIRST Millennia Credit Card

IDFC FIRST Classic Credit Card

Lifetime-free with ordinary-but-fine rewards, the Classic's genuinely standout feature is one almost no one markets: a finance charge from 0.71% a month (8.5% p.a.), risk-priced up to 3.85% (46.2% p.a.) — a floor roughly five times cheaper than the industry-standard 3.5%. For anyone who occasionally revolves a balance, no rewards programme beats that arithmetic. If you always pay in full, it's a perfectly fine but unremarkable free card. Know which one you are.

→

IDFC FIRST WOW! Credit Card

An FD-secured, lifetime-free card that needs no income proof or credit history — your FD becomes your collateral and your limit, keeps earning interest, and quietly builds your CIBIL score, with a genuinely useful zero-forex markup on top. It's a credit-access tool, not a rewards card. For students, freelancers and first-time earners who can fund a ₹20,000 FD, it's the correct, honest first step.

→

IDFC FIRST Hello Cashback Credit Card

An FD-backed RuPay card that pays real online cashback — 3% up to ₹10,000 a cycle and 5% on incremental online spend — to people the unsecured market usually turns away. Because it is secured against a deposit from ₹10,000, approval skips the income and CIBIL check, and the FD keeps earning interest. The ₹1,000 fee and tight caps keep it an online-cashback specialist.

→

IDFC FIRST SWYP Credit Card

A Mastercard lifestyle card for young users with an unusual spine: no regular interest. You either clear the Total Amount Due in full or convert eligible spends over ₹2,500 into flat-fee EMIs — there is no revolving credit. Rewards come via monthly spend milestones, alongside partner discounts and railway lounges. The trade-off: miss the full payment and late charges climb to ₹6,000.

→

IDFC FIRST Digital RuPay Credit Card

A virtual, digital-first RuPay card issued against an existing IDFC FIRST credit card, built to put UPI spends on a credit line. Rewards are deliberately thin — 3 points per ₹200 (~0.4%) on UPI spends above ₹2,000, 1 per ₹200 below — and it carries a ₹199 fee, not lifetime free. Judge it as a convenience add-on, not a rewards card.

→

IDFC FIRST EA₹N Credit Card

An FD-backed RuPay card built for UPI-first spenders: 1% cashback on UPI via the IDFC FIRST app, 0.5% on third-party UPI and other spends, with cashback capped at ₹500 a cycle. Because it is secured against a deposit from ₹5,000, approval skips the income and CIBIL check and the FD keeps earning interest. Keep spends on the app to earn the headline rate.

Axis Bank Neo Credit Card

Built for someone at the very start of their credit journey — a fresh graduate or first-time earner wanting a cheap card with a few genuinely useful everyday perks, from a bank that publishes no income criterion for it. It won't scale with your income, and isn't supposed to: its job is to be a good first card and hand you off to something bigger in a year or two. On that narrow brief, one of the better options around.

International spends stop earning reward points

Reward points on international spends at the card's own rate→No reward points on international spends

From 26 October 2026 IDFC FIRST Bank credit cards stop earning reward points on international spends, except the Ashva, Mayura, Gaj, FIRST Private, FIRST WOW!, FIRST WOW! Black and IndiGo cards. IDFC announced it in its 9 September 2026 letter to cardmembers, the same letter that removed the forex markup, so paying abroad still costs no markup but earns nothing. On the Classic, Millennia, Select and FIRST Wealth this ends the 10X rate on international spends.

  2. ▲ FeeEffective 9 Sept 2026

    Forex markup removed

1% to 3.5%, depending on the card→0% (nil)

IDFC FIRST Bank stopped charging a markup on foreign-currency spends on all its credit cards from 9 September 2026, the effective date its letter to cardmembers gives. Its Key Fact Statement dated 15 September 2026 lists the markup on foreign-currency and currency-conversion transactions as nil, with no card-by-card exception, where the January 2026 edition charged 3.5% on most cards and less on a few (1.99% on the FIRST Select, 1.5% on the FIRST Wealth, 1.49% on the IndiGo card and 1% on the Ashva). The same letter says international spends stop earning reward points from 26 October 2026 on most IDFC FIRST cards; that is recorded as its own change.

From 18 June 2026 the accelerated reward points on travel booked through the IDFC FIRST Bank app were cut for the Millennia — hotel bookings from a 33% bonus to 20%, and flight bookings from a 13% bonus to 10% — reducing a bounded upside for customers who book travel in-app.

Reward points credited from the July 2026 statement cycle now expire 24 months after being earned (previously lifetime-valid), and points accrue only on spends up to the assigned credit limit in a billing cycle. The FIRST Millennia was explicitly named among the affected cards. Existing balances stay redeemable for 24 months from the July 2026 cycle.

Under a portfolio-wide fair-usage revision effective 18 January 2026, FASTag recharges and railway spends earn only 1X and no longer count toward the 10X threshold. A 1% fee (plus GST) now applies if FASTag recharges exceed ₹10,000 or railway spends exceed ₹25,000 in a billing cycle. The same notice added that no reward points accrue for a cycle if the Minimum Amount Due is not paid by the due date.
