BOBCARD Uni GoldX Credit Card

The BOBCARD Uni GoldX is a lifetime-free credit card from the Uni app that pays 1% back as Uni Coins, kept as 24K digital gold, with zero forex markup. It is issued by BOBCARD Ltd, Bank of Baroda's credit-card subsidiary. The card you carry is a Visa, and BOBCARD adds a free virtual RuPay card on the same credit limit, which is the one you link to PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm for scan-and-pay. Eligible spends earn 1 Uni Coin per ₹1, each coin worth one paisa, and the coins can be kept as gold in the Uni app or redeemed as cashback to the card account. UPI payments under ₹100 may earn nothing. BOBCARD adds 5% on vouchers bought in the in-app Uni Store, and Uni currently advertises 7% back on flights booked there. Coins have no fixed expiry, but a year without a card transaction forfeits them. International spends carry no markup but earn no coins, and there is a 1% fuel-surcharge waiver (up to ₹500 a statement cycle on transactions up to ₹7,500). Since 19 September 2026 tolls earn no coins, and public-transport and insurance spends earn only on the first ₹20,000 and ₹50,000 of spend a month. It is the relaunch of the Uni card after its earlier NX Wave product. Uni also offers a card issued by YES Bank, on YES's own terms; this page covers BOBCARD's GoldX.

A tidy free card with a genuinely different reward: 1% back as Uni Coins you can keep as 24K digital gold, 5% on Uni Store vouchers, zero forex markup, and a free virtual RuPay card that puts it on UPI. The gold framing is the appeal. On pure rate it is a ~1% everyday card, and UPI payments under ₹100 may earn nothing, so judge it as a free gold-savings card rather than a rewards engine, and use it at least once a year so the coins are not forfeited.

The concern

The headline is 1%, and the 5% applies only to vouchers bought in the Uni Store, so as an everyday earner it is a modest ~1% card. Gold value moves with the market, and coins are forfeited after a year with no card use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the Uni GoldX on UPI?
Yes, through its RuPay card. The GoldX itself is a Visa card, and BOBCARD adds a free virtual RuPay card on the same credit limit that works only for UPI and online payments. Link that card to PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm and pay by scanning any UPI QR code. UPI payments of ₹100 or more earn Uni Coins, and smaller ones may earn nothing.
Is the Uni GoldX lifetime free?
Yes. BOBCARD charges no joining or annual fee on the GoldX, or on its virtual RuPay card for UPI. These are BOBCARD's terms. The Uni card that YES Bank issues is a different card, with a ₹499 renewal fee that YES waives at ₹50,000 of annual spend.
Does a lifetime-free card still charge anything?
Lifetime free means no joining, annual or renewal fee, not no charges at all. BOBCARD's schedule for the GoldX charges 1.25% on rent payments (at least ₹100), 1% on wallet loads, 1% on education fees paid through third-party sites, 1% on utility payments of ₹50,000 or more (capped at ₹3,000) and 1% on fuel transactions of ₹10,000 or more.
How do the gold rewards work?
You earn 1 Uni Coin for every ₹1 of eligible spend, and each coin is worth one paisa, so the return is 1%. Uni shows the coins as 24K digital gold in its app, and BOBCARD's terms also let you redeem them as cashback to your card account or spend them in the Uni Store. BOBCARD adds 5% on Uni Store vouchers, and Uni currently advertises 7% back on flights booked there. Coins have no fixed expiry, but a year with no card transactions forfeits them, as do closing the card and falling 90 days overdue.
Which bank issues the Uni GoldX?
This page covers the GoldX issued by BOBCARD Ltd, Bank of Baroda's credit-card subsidiary, in partnership with the Uni app, where you apply and manage it. Uni's site also lists YES Bank as an issuer. YES Bank's Uni Credit Card is a separate card on YES's own terms, with a ₹499 renewal fee waived at ₹50,000 of annual spend, and it is not open to existing YES Bank credit cardholders. The lifetime-free terms on this page are BOBCARD's.

2025

  1. ◆ LaunchEffective 2025

    Uni GoldX launched

Uni (the fintech whose earlier PPI-based 'Pay 1/3rd' card was halted after the RBI's June 2022 PPI-credit action) launched the co-branded, lifetime-free Uni GoldX in 2025, soft-launched around February 2025 and rolled out more widely through mid-2025. BOBCARD Ltd, Bank of Baroda's credit-card subsidiary, issues it as a Visa card with a free virtual RuPay card on the same credit limit for UPI payments, and YES Bank issues a Uni card of its own. Its hook is gold: every eligible spend earns 1% back as Uni Coins that can be held as 24K digital gold (secured by Augmont), rising to 5% on in-app Uni Store vouchers, plus zero forex markup and a 1% fuel-surcharge waiver (up to ₹500 on transactions up to ₹7,500). It carries no lounge or golf perks, and the coins have no fixed expiry while the card is in use.
