CRED IndusInd Bank RuPay Credit Card

The CRED IndusInd Bank RuPay Credit Card is CRED's mass-market co-brand (not the invite-only 18-karat CRED Sovereign) — a genuinely useful everyday earner if you live inside the CRED app. It pays 5 CRED Points per ₹100 (an effective ~5% when points redeem at ₹1) on e-commerce, CRED Pay, CRED Store, CRED Travel and CRED UPI payments at online checkouts, plus 1 point per ₹100 on international spends. Read the UPI line carefully: IndusInd pays 5% on CRED UPI online payments but 1% on CRED UPI Scan & Pay, the QR code at a shop counter. Since 11 August 2026 that 1% has no cap (it used to stop at 500 CRED Points a statement cycle), and UPI paid through other apps falls under the 1% IndusInd pays on all other transactions. The other catch is the 5,000-point monthly cap across all accelerated categories, so the 5% rate is really worth up to ~₹1 lakh of qualifying spend a statement cycle; beyond that, and on ordinary offline spends, earning drops to a token base rate. The first year is free; a ₹499 + GST fee applies from the second year. CRED Points expire two years after issue, and the redemption value is ₹1 only for CRED flights, hotels and select merchants — where no more than 70% of your points balance can be used in a single transaction — while bill payments redeem at ₹0.50 with no such ceiling.

CRED IndusInd Bank RuPay Credit Card

CRED's mass-market RuPay co-brand (not the invite-only CRED Sovereign) pays a real ~5% — 5 CRED Points per ₹100 — on e-commerce, CRED Pay/Store/Travel and CRED UPI, capped at 5,000 points a statement cycle. First year free, then ₹499. A focused online/UPI category card, best paired with a broad everyday card, not a do-everything wallet.

Who is this for?

For heavy CRED users who route e-commerce, CRED Pay and online CRED UPI payments through the app and can stay within the 5,000-point monthly cap. Casual users who spend mostly offline will see little from it.

Utility Bills: 1 CRED Point per ₹100 (1% back) on utility bills paid INSIDE the CRED app. IndusInd states that utility and insurance transactions done outside CRED earn no CRED Reward Points at all, so a bill paid direct to the biller earns nothing — this is a rail condition, not a category exclusion. · CRED app

Other: 1 CRED Point per ₹100 on ordinary offline and other non-accelerated spends, including CRED UPI Scan & Pay (uncapped since 11 Aug 2026) and UPI paid through other apps. The 5X rate is limited to e-commerce, CRED-app and CRED UPI online transactions. Transactions under ₹100 earn nothing.

Should you get it?

  • Mid tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.
  • Strongest value if you spend heavily on Online Shopping (5% back).

Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • A real ~5% (5 CRED Points/₹100) on e-commerce, CRED Pay/Store/Travel and CRED UPI online payments
  • RuPay UPI-linked — online CRED UPI payments earn the accelerated rate, and CRED UPI Scan & Pay earns 1% with no cap since 11 August 2026
  • 1% back on utility bills and insurance premiums when they are paid inside the CRED app
  • First year free
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹5,000 fuel spends, up to ₹300 a month

✕ Cons

  • The 5% rate is capped at 5,000 CRED Points a statement cycle (~₹1 lakh of qualifying app spend)
  • In-store UPI earns only 1% — CRED UPI Scan & Pay (uncapped since 11 August 2026) and UPI paid through other apps both sit on the base rate; the 5% needs an online CRED UPI payment
  • A CRED Point is worth ₹1 only for CRED flights, hotels and select merchants — bill payments redeem at ₹0.50
  • On the ₹1 rail (flights, hotels, CRED Store, CRED Pay merchants) you can use at most 70% of your points balance in a single transaction; only card and utility bill payments, which redeem at ₹0.50, allow 100%
  • Utility bills and insurance premiums earn only when they are paid inside the CRED app — paid direct to the biller or insurer they earn nothing
  • Earns nothing on fuel, tolls and other transport, rent, wallet loads, EMI and loan payments, government payments, online education or jewellery, or on any transaction under ₹100
  • ₹499 + GST fee applies from the second year (first year free)
  • CRED Points expire two years after issue
  • From 15 June 2026 IndusInd charges 1% + GST on fuel spends above ₹30,000 a statement cycle, a 2% + GST dynamic-currency-conversion fee when an overseas merchant bills you in rupees (this is on top of the 3.5% forex markup, not instead of it), and 1% + GST on transport spends above ₹40,000 a cycle

The concern

The 5% is narrow and capped — it applies only to e-commerce and CRED-app transactions, stops at 5,000 points a cycle, and a CRED Point is worth ₹1 only for CRED travel/merchants (₹0.50 for bill payments), so real-world value is lower than the headline rate suggests.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the CRED Sovereign card?
No. This is CRED's mass-market RuPay co-brand, open to apply. The CRED Sovereign is a separate, invite-only 18-karat gold card with undisclosed terms.
How much can I earn at 5%?
5 CRED Points per ₹100 on e-commerce, CRED Pay/Store/Travel and CRED UPI online payments, capped at 5,000 CRED Points a statement cycle — roughly the first ₹1 lakh of qualifying app spend each cycle. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 5% on online shopping (rewards capped at ₹5,000 a month in that category), against 1% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. Figures as of September 2026.
What is a CRED Point worth?
About ₹1 when redeemed for CRED flights, hotels and select merchants, and ₹0.50 for bill payments. On the ₹1 rail no more than 70% of your points balance can be used in a single transaction; card and utility bill payments inside the CRED app allow up to 100%. Points expire two years after issue.
Is the card UPI-linked?
Yes — it is a RuPay card, so you can link it to UPI apps. IndusInd publishes two different tiers. CRED UPI payments at online checkouts earn 5 CRED Points per ₹100 within the monthly cap, while CRED UPI Scan & Pay earns 1%, with no cap since 11 August 2026 (it used to stop at 500 CRED Points a statement cycle). UPI paid through other apps falls under the 1% IndusInd pays on all other transactions.
Do utility bills and insurance earn on this card?
Only inside the CRED app. IndusInd pays 1% back on utility and insurance transactions made through CRED and states that the same transactions done outside CRED earn no CRED Reward Points at all.
Is there a fee to redeem CRED Points?
IndusInd's own two documents disagree. The MITC states ₹149 + GST for a cash redemption and ₹100 for other redemption categories across the portfolio from 1 April 2025, while IndusInd's CRED card page names no redemption fee and points are redeemed inside the CRED app under CRED's terms. We carry the MITC figure as the newer, regulatory document — check what the app shows before you redeem.
What does it cost?
The first year is free; a fee of ₹499 + GST applies from the second year onwards. IndusInd's MITC carries a footnote against that ₹499 row for targeted "Lifetime Free" offers, so a lifetime-free version exists only as a promotion selected customers may be offered — not as standard pricing.

The bottom line

Judged as a category card it is one of the stronger RuPay-UPI earners going — a real ~5% on the CRED ecosystem is rare — but read the cap and the redemption fine print. The 5,000-point ceiling caps the 5% at roughly ₹1 lakh of app spend a cycle, non-CRED offline spends earn a token rate, and a point is worth ₹1 only for CRED travel and select merchants (₹0.50 for bill payments). Treat it as a focused online/UPI card to pair with a broad everyday card, not a single do-everything wallet.

1%, capped at 500 CRED Points a statement cycle→1%, no cap

From 11 August 2026 IndusInd stopped capping the 1% CRED Reward Points on CRED UPI Scan & Pay, which had stopped at 500 CRED Points a statement cycle. The same revision dropped the note that Scan & Pay done outside CRED earns nothing; the card page now pays 1% on all other transactions. The 5% on e-commerce, CRED Pay, Store, Travel and CRED UPI online payments, and its 5,000-point cap, are unchanged.

From 15 June 2026 the Dynamic Currency Conversion mark-up — levied when an international transaction, or one at an India-based merchant registered overseas, is billed in rupees rather than the local currency — doubled from 1% to 2% + GST on this card. Premium variants were held at 1%. DCC is avoidable: always choose to be billed in the merchant's local currency.

From 15 June 2026 IndusInd charges 1% + GST on cumulative fuel spends above ₹30,000 in a statement cycle on this card, down from the ₹50,000 threshold that applied until 14 June 2026. The bank split its portfolio in two and put the CRED RuPay card in the lower ₹30,000 tier; premium variants (Indulge, Celesta, Crest, Pinnacle, EazyDiner Signature, Tiger, Avios) kept ₹50,000. This is a fee on the spend itself, separate from the fuel surcharge waiver.

On 21 December 2025 IndusInd discontinued the complimentary air-accident insurance feature across its credit cards, stating simply that the coverage "stands discontinued". The bank published no replacement and named no exempt card. Note that several IndusInd product pages still described the cover months afterwards — the Avios, Duo, Pioneer Private and Platinum pages all still advertised it in August 2026 — so a reader may encounter the old wording on IndusInd's own site; the dated withdrawal notice is the operative statement. Other insurance benefits are unaffected: lost-card liability, Total Protect fraud cover, travel insurance and purchase protection continue where the card carried them.
