Pros and cons
Pros
- About 4% back at Jio-bp (12 Smiles/₹100 plus 1% surcharge waiver), Jio-bp Pulse EV charging included
- 5 Smiles per ₹100 (~1.25%) on dining, supermarket and grocery spends, with no merchant tie-in
- Milestones worth up to 4,000 Smiles a year, plus 200 Smiles a cycle on ₹4,000 of Jio-bp spend
- Nil renewal fee, and the joining fee is waived on ₹10,000 spend in 90 days
- RuPay UPI-linked for everyday scan-and-pay
- Welcome 400 Smiles and a ₹200 wildbean cafe coupon
- 24x7 roadside assistance — repair, towing and emergency help — in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore
Cons
- The 12-Smiles rate and 1% surcharge waiver apply only at participating Jio-bp outlets — not at other fuel stations
- Jio-bp earning is capped at 1,200 Smiles a statement cycle (~₹10,000 of Jio-bp spend), and Jio-bp Pulse EV charging shares that same cap
- Outside dining, supermarket and grocery (5 Smiles per ₹100), everything else earns a flat 2 Smiles per ₹100
- Rent, insurance, government, utility payments and fuel bought at non-Jio-bp stations earn nothing at all
- Smiles redeem at roughly ₹0.25 each on our own estimate — IndusInd publishes no rupee value for a Smile
- Redemption is at the pump; IndusInd publishes no statement-credit or online-catalogue route for Smiles
- Roadside assistance covers only six cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore
- ₹499 + GST joining fee unless you spend ₹10,000 within the first 90 days
- From 15 June 2026 IndusInd charges 1% + GST on fuel spends above ₹30,000 a statement cycle, a 2% + GST dynamic-currency-conversion fee when an overseas merchant bills you in rupees (on top of the 3.5% forex markup, not instead of it), and 1% + GST on transport spends above ₹40,000 a cycle
Quick verdict: A focused fuel co-brand that pays about 4% back at Jio-bp outlets — 12 Smiles per ₹100 plus a 1% surcharge waiver — with a nil renewal fee and RuPay UPI. The main case rests on one condition: Jio-bp has to be your regular pump. Away from it there is a real 5-Smiles tier on dining, supermarket and grocery, but everything else is a flat 2 Smiles per ₹100, the fuel rate is capped at 1,200 Smiles a cycle, and Smiles are worth only ~₹0.25 each on our own estimate. Right pump, good card; wrong pump, thin.
The IndusInd Bank Jio-bp Mobility+ is a co-brand with Reliance's Jio-bp fuel network, and it is refreshingly honest about what it is: a card for people who fill up at Jio-bp. The headline value is tied to that network, and the interesting question is what happens when you spend elsewhere.
The fuel maths
At Jio-bp outlets the card earns 12 Smiles per ₹100 — not just on petrol and diesel but on Castrol lubes, the wildbean cafe and the convenience store. At about ₹0.25 a Smile that is roughly 3% value back, and on top of it you get a 1% fuel surcharge waiver at Jio-bp. Together that is close to 4% back on your Jio-bp spending, which is strong for a fuel card with no renewal fee.
The ceiling is 1,200 Smiles a statement cycle — hit at around ₹10,000 of Jio-bp spend a month. For most private drivers that comfortably covers a month of fuel; for high-mileage or multi-vehicle households it is a real cap to plan around.
The condition that decides everything
Read this line carefully, because it is the whole card: the 12-Smiles rate and the surcharge waiver apply only at participating Jio-bp outlets. Fill up at any other station and you drop to the base 2 Smiles per ₹100 with no surcharge waiver.
This is a merchant-tied card, not a fuel card in general. Its value is real but geographically fixed to wherever your nearest Jio-bp is. If your fuel spend is split across brands, most of it earns nothing special.
The tier most write-ups miss
The card is not a flat 2-Smiles proposition away from the pump. IndusInd's own earn table — printed twice on the product page — has a middle tier: dining, supermarket and grocery spends earn 5 Smiles per ₹100, about 1.25% at our ₹0.25 valuation. It is ungated, so unlike the fuel rate it works at any restaurant or supermarket, not only inside the Jio-bp network.
That does not turn it into an everyday card, but it does mean the honest base rate is two rates, not one. What genuinely earns nothing is a short, specific list: rent, insurance, government payments, utility bills, and fuel bought at a non-Jio-bp station.
The milestones are similarly under-reported. IndusInd publishes three, not one: 2,000 Smiles at ₹1 lakh of anniversary-year spend, another 2,000 at ₹2 lakh, and a monthly one — 200 Smiles for ₹4,000 or more of Jio-bp-ecosystem spend in a statement cycle, worth 2,400 Smiles across a full year if you sustain it. The monthly one is the easiest to hit and the easiest to miss, because it counts only Jio-bp spend.
So the honest question is not "is this a good fuel card?" but "is Jio-bp genuinely where I fill up?" If a Jio-bp is on your commute and you can standardise on it, the card is excellent value. If you buy fuel wherever is convenient, a non-tied fuel card will serve you better.
Fees, welcome perks and the RuPay UPI angle
| Feature | IndusInd Jio-bp Mobility+ |
|---|---|
| Jio-bp fuel | 12 Smiles/₹100 (~3%) + 1% surcharge waiver (~4% total) |
| Fuel cap | 1,200 Smiles/statement cycle (~₹10,000 spend), shared with Jio-bp Pulse EV charging |
| Dining, supermarket, grocery | 5 Smiles/₹100 (~1.25%), ungated |
| Other spends & UPI | 2 Smiles/₹100 |
| Earns nothing | Rent, insurance, government, utility bills, non-Jio-bp fuel |
| Milestones | 2,000 Smiles at ₹1 lakh, 2,000 more at ₹2 lakh, 200 a cycle on ₹4,000 of Jio-bp spend |
| Smile value | ~₹0.25 (our estimate — IndusInd publishes none) |
| Joining fee | ₹499 + GST, waived on ₹10,000 spend in 90 days |
| Renewal fee | Nil |
| Network | RuPay (UPI-linked) |
The nil renewal fee and the joining-fee waiver mean an active cardholder pays nothing to keep it. Welcome perks are modest but real — 400 Smiles on your first Jio-bp transaction and a ₹200 wildbean cafe coupon — and there is a 24x7 roadside-assistance helpline covering repair, towing and emergency help, though only in six cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore. Because it is on RuPay, it links to UPI, so it can sit in your phone as a scan-and-pay card.
Two numbers to hold lightly. A Smile is worth about ₹0.25 on our own estimate — IndusInd publishes no rupee value for one anywhere, so every percentage in this review rests on that assumption. And redemption is at the pump: you quote your registered mobile number at a Jio-bp outlet, apply your Smiles to the bill and pay the balance. There is no statement-credit route and no online catalogue that IndusInd documents for this card. From 15 June 2026 the usual IndusInd charges also apply — 1% + GST on fuel spends above ₹30,000 a cycle, 1% + GST on transport above ₹40,000, and a 2% + GST dynamic-currency-conversion fee on top of the 3.5% forex markup when an overseas merchant bills you in rupees.
Where it fits in a wallet
Think of it as a single-purpose card you add alongside your main earner. Within IndusInd's range it is the logical pick if your spending is fuel-led, in the way the CRED IndusInd RuPay card is the pick for online-and-UPI spenders and the lifetime-free IndusInd Legend is a general rewards card after its 2025 changes. Don't try to make the Jio-bp card do everything — outside fuel, dining and groceries its rate is deliberately plain, because it expects a broad card to handle the rest of your spend. Pair it with one, push Jio-bp fuel and your restaurant and supermarket bills to it, and it does its jobs well. Also worth a look is the milestone-oriented IndusInd Nexxt if you want a more general IndusInd card.
Should you get it?
Get it if Jio-bp is your regular fuel station and your monthly fuel spend fits under ~₹10,000 — the ~4% back with a nil renewal fee is hard to beat for that use. Skip it if you fill up across brands, because the headline accelerator is locked to Jio-bp and, outside the 5-Smiles dining and grocery tier, the rest of your spend earns just 2 Smiles per ₹100 at ~₹0.25 each. It is a good card for the right driver and a thin one for the wrong one — and which you are comes down largely to where you pull in to refuel.
