YES Prosperity Cashback Credit Card

The YES Prosperity Cashback was the ₹999 base of YES Bank's Prosperity cashback line — a simpler, cheaper sibling of the ₹1,499 Prosperity Cashback Plus. It pays 5% cashback on groceries, movie tickets and utility bill payments, and 0.5% on other retail spends (fuel excluded). The important limits are the caps: TWO separate ₹100-per-cycle ceilings — one on the grocery-and-movie 5% (transactions over ₹500; smaller ones earn the 0.5% base) and another on the utility 5%, which also needs an auto-pay standing instruction registered with YES Bank. Bills paid manually earn only the 0.5% base capped at ₹750 a cycle, and utility spends over ₹15,000 a cycle earn nothing at all — so the 5% is a small, bounded top-up rather than a big earner. It adds a 1% fuel surcharge waiver, and per YES Bank's MITC the ₹999 annual fee is NOT waivable on spend. YES Bank has now closed the card to new customers: its product page states that issuance for new customers has been discontinued, and that existing cardholders will be issued a new card on expiry. So this page is a reference for holders, not an application route.

Mid tier
The base Prosperity Cashback did one modest thing: 5% back on groceries, movies and utility bills, paid as straightforward statement credit. The twin ₹100-per-cycle caps — one for groceries and movies, one for auto-paid utilities — kept the upside small (about ₹2,400 a year at the very best), the 0.5% base was weak, and — per YES Bank's MITC — the ₹999 fee was not waivable on spend, so even filling both caps every month only cleared the fee by a modest margin. That maths is now academic: YES Bank has discontinued issuance to new customers, and existing holders simply get a renewal on expiry. Anyone shopping for a bills-and-grocery cashback card today should look elsewhere — a lifetime-free everyday cashback card such as the [Axis ACE](/cards/axis-ace) does the same job without a fee to earn back.

If you hold this card: You keep the card and its 5% cashback on groceries, movies and utility bills (within the ₹100-per-cycle cap), and YES Bank issues a new card on expiry — there is no forced conversion. Only new applications are closed.

YES Bank’s own product page for this card now carries the notice: “Issuance of YES Prosperity Cashback Credit Card for new customers has been discontinued. For existing cardholders, new card will be issued on card expiry.” The same banner sits on the ₹1,499 Prosperity Cashback Plus, so both tiers of the Prosperity cashback line are closed. YES named no successor; its current lineup (MARQUÉE, RESERV, ELITE+, SELECT, ACE) is where new applicants are steered.

In-depth review

YES Prosperity Cashback Credit Card

Closed to new customers: YES Bank has discontinued issuance of the Prosperity Cashback (existing holders get a renewal on expiry), so this is a guide for holders. It was the ₹999 base of the Prosperity cashback line — 5% back on groceries, movies and utility bills, 0.5% elsewhere. The limits defined it: two separate ₹100-per-cycle caps (one for groceries and movies, one for auto-paid utilities), and per YES Bank's MITC the fee was never waivable on spend.

The concern

Closed to new customers — and even for holders, cashback is capped at ₹100 per statement cycle in each 5% bucket (about ₹200 a month at the very best) against a ₹999 fee that is not waivable on spend, so the card barely clears its own cost.

Frequently asked questions

Can you still apply for the YES Prosperity Cashback?
No. YES Bank's product page states that issuance of the YES Prosperity Cashback Credit Card for new customers has been discontinued; existing cardholders are issued a new card on expiry. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 5% on groceries (rewards capped at ₹100 a month in that category), against 0.5% on other spends — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. Figures as of October 2026.
How much cashback does the base Prosperity Cashback pay?
5% on groceries, movie tickets and utility bill payments, and 0.5% on other retail spends (fuel excluded). Grocery and movie transactions over ₹500 earn the 5% — smaller ones earn the 0.5% base — and the utility 5% needs an auto-pay standing instruction registered with YES Bank.
Is there a cashback cap?
Yes, two separate ones — the grocery-and-movie 5% is capped at ₹100 per statement cycle, and the utility auto-pay 5% has its own ₹100/cycle cap. That is roughly ₹2,400 a year at most. Utilities paid without auto-pay earn only the 0.5% base (capped ₹750/cycle), and utility spends over ₹15,000 a cycle earn nothing.
Can the annual fee be waived?
No. Per YES Bank's MITC the ₹999 annual fee is not waivable on spend, so weigh the twin ₹100/cycle caps against the fee before applying. The renewal fee is ₹999 plus 18% GST — ₹1,179 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Figures as of October 2026.
How is this different from the Cashback Plus?
This was the ₹999 base card; the Prosperity Cashback Plus is the ₹1,499 variant with a higher 0.75% base rate. Both are now closed to new customers — YES Bank carries the same discontinuation notice on each product page.
