Swiggy Ornge HDFC Bank Credit Card

The Swiggy HDFC Bank Ornge card (or Swiggy Orange) earns 5% cashback on the Swiggy app and 5% at Amazon, Flipkart and Uber; ₹500 fee, waived at ₹1.5 lakh. It is the entry tier created when HDFC split its Swiggy card into two — Ornge (this one, ₹500) and the premium Blck (₹1,000). The 5% runs across the Swiggy app (Food, Instamart, Dineout; minimum ₹249) and select online merchants (Amazon, Flipkart, Nykaa, Cleartrip, Uber, Croma and others) — the two 5% streams share a single ₹1,500/month cap — plus 1% on all other eligible spends capped ₹1,000/month. Unlike the older Swiggy card, cashback is paid as direct statement credit (not Swiggy Money). The welcome benefit is a complimentary 12-month Swiggy One membership, and there's a birthday-week 10% Dineout offer. Cleartrip and Nykaa stack instant discounts on top of the 5%. There is no lounge access, and fuel, rent, jewellery, government payments, wallet loads, EMI and — new on the 2026 cards — online gaming and education fees all earn nothing. The ₹500 fee waives at ₹1.5 lakh of annual spend.

The Swiggy Ornge is a sensible everyday cashback card if Swiggy is a real part of your month — 5% on the app plus a free 12-month Swiggy One membership can cover the ₹500 fee on their own. The honest limits are the shared ₹1,500 cap on the 5% streams and the absence of lounge access. For a Swiggy-first spender it's a clean, low-fee pick; for others the entry cashback field is crowded.

In-depth review

Swiggy Ornge HDFC Bank Credit Card

The entry tier of HDFC's split Swiggy card — 5% cashback on the Swiggy app plus 5% on select online brands, but the two 5% streams share a single ₹1,500/month cap, then 1% elsewhere. Cashback is now direct statement credit, and a free 12-month Swiggy One membership can cover the ₹500 fee on its own. A clean, low-fee pick for a genuinely Swiggy-first spender.

The concern

The two 5% streams (Swiggy app + online) share one ₹1,500/month cap, so heavy spenders in both hit the ceiling fast and slide to the 1% base.

Frequently asked questions

How is cashback paid, and what's the monthly ceiling?
Cashback is paid as direct statement credit (not Swiggy Money, as on the older card). Effective ceiling ≈ ₹2,500/month (₹1,500 + ₹1,000). In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1% on everyday spends (rewards capped at ₹1,000 a month in that category) — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. It reaches 5% at Swiggy app — Food, Instamart, Dineout, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the welcome benefit?
A complimentary 12-month Swiggy One membership on card activation (existing members get a 12-month extension). The welcome benefit is currently valued at about ₹1,200 against a joining fee of ₹590 all-in (incl. GST) — a first-year net of roughly ₹610 in your favour before any spend-based rewards. Figures as of October 2026.
How does Ornge differ from Swiggy Blck?
Ornge (₹500) earns 5% on the Swiggy app; Blck (₹1,000) earns 10% and adds a Swiggy Blck membership. The Blck also gives its select-online 5% its own ₹1,500 cap, where Ornge makes the two 5% streams share one — that is the real difference in ceiling (₹48,000 a year versus ₹30,000). Neither has lounge access.
Do Cleartrip and Nykaa give anything beyond the 5%?
Cleartrip adds a 6.35% instant discount on flights and 20% on hotels; Nykaa adds 5% instant discount on orders of ₹1,000 or more, capped ₹100 per transaction and two per month. Both stack on top of the 5% cashback, and HDFC marks both as limited-period offers.
What is the fee waiver threshold?
₹1.5 lakh of annual spend waives the next year's ₹500 renewal fee. The renewal fee is ₹500 plus 18% GST — ₹590 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹1,50,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹12,500 a month. Figures as of October 2026.

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 15 May 2026

Dynamic currency conversion markup raised to 1.75%

    1% markup→1.75% markup

HDFC's MITC: "Dynamic currency conversion Markup Fee: With effect from 15th May 2026, a Markup fee of 1.75% will be levied on all transactions carried out in Indian Currency at an international location or at merchants which are located in India but registered overseas." This is separate from, and stacks on top of, the card's ordinary foreign-currency markup. It is the charge you pay for accepting a terminal's offer to bill you in rupees while abroad - always decline that offer and pay in the local currency. It also catches India-based purchases from merchants registered overseas, which is easy to trigger without leaving the country. The PIXEL MITC dates the same change 17 May 2026.

  2. ◆ LaunchEffective 12 Mar 2026

Swiggy Ornge HDFC Bank Credit Card launched (Swiggy card split into Ornge + BLCK)

HDFC Bank and Swiggy split the single Swiggy co-brand into two new Mastercard SKUs — the entry Swiggy Ornge (₹500 + GST joining/annual) and the premium Swiggy BLCK (₹1,000). Ornge earns 5% cashback on Swiggy-app spends (Food, Instamart, Dineout; minimum ₹249 per transaction) and 5% on select online categories (travel, local cabs, electronics, apparel, personal care and more); the two 5% streams share one ₹1,500/billing-cycle cap, with 1% on other eligible spends capped ₹1,000/cycle (an effective ceiling of about ₹2,500/month). Cashback is paid as direct statement credit against the outstanding, auto-redeemed within the same cycle, and the welcome benefit is a complimentary 12-month Swiggy One membership plus a birthday-week 10% Dineout offer. Fuel, rent, jewellery, government, wallet/prepaid loads, EMI and cash-advance spends are excluded, and there is no lounge access. At launch existing Swiggy HDFC holders were not migrated and the original card kept operating; HDFC began moving them to Ornge or BLCK in September 2026.

HDFC's MITC: "Rent Pay Transactions: W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee on transaction amount will be levied on rental transactions... Fee capped at Rs 4999 per transaction"; "Wallet Loading (excl PayZapp) - W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee will be levied on Wallet loading spends exceeding Rs 10,000 in a calendar month"; "Online Skill based Gaming - W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee... exceeding Rs 10,000 in a calendar month". These are charges on top of the fact that most HDFC cards already earn zero reward points on the same categories - you pay to spend, and earn nothing for it. PayZapp wallet loads are exempt from the wallet fee.

  3. ▼ RewardEffective 1 Jul 2025

Insurance reward points capped, online gaming stops earning

Insurance uncapped on most cards; online skill-based gaming earned points→Insurance capped at 2,000 reward points a month (5,000 on Diners Black, 10,000 on Infinia); online skill-based gaming earns nothing

HDFC's MITC: "With effect from 1st July 2025, Reward Points accrued for insurance transactions will have a maximum cap of... 2000 per month for all other credit cards" and "With effect from 1st July 2025, Online Skill-Based gaming transactions will not earn Reward Points/CashPoints on all the cards." Insurance premiums are a common way to hit a milestone quickly, so the cap matters more than its size suggests.
