AU Tejas Credit Card

AU Tejas is an entry rewards-and-cashback card that leans on partner-merchant deals. It gives a flat 10% cashback on spends at partner brands across movies, grocery and food delivery, cab bookings and bill payments (subject to caps), earns 1 reward point per ₹100 on all other spends (5 points per ₹100 apply only to AU Rewardz portal bookings), and adds 500 bonus points for completing 5 transactions of ₹500+ in a statement cycle. It opens with 2,000 bonus points (or a ₹500 voucher) on activation and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. The ₹500 fee waives on ₹1,50,000 of annual spend.

In-depth review

AU Tejas Credit Card

A deal-led entry card whose headline is flat 10% cashback at partner brands — movies, grocery and food delivery, cabs and bill payments — but only at those partners and only up to ₹250 a month. Off-partner spend drops to an ordinary points rate. The value is entirely a function of whether your apps match AU's partner list, so read that list and the caps before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

How does the 10% cashback work on the AU Tejas?
It is a flat 10% cashback on spends at partner brands across movies, grocery and food delivery, cab bookings and bill payments, subject to monthly caps — not a blanket 10% on all spend. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 0.25% on everyday spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. It reaches 10% at District Movies, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
What else does it earn?
1 reward point per ₹100 on all other spends (about 0.25% at ₹0.25 a point) — the 5-points-per-₹100 rate applies only to bookings made via the AU Rewardz portal — plus 500 bonus points for completing 5 transactions of ₹500+ in a statement cycle, and a 2,000-point (or ₹500 voucher) benefit on activation and a first transaction within 30 days.
What is the fee and how is it waived?
₹500 + GST joining and annual fee, with the annual fee waived on ₹1,50,000 of retail spend from the second year. The renewal fee is ₹500 plus 18% GST — ₹590 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹1,50,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹12,500 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
Who can apply for the AU Tejas?
AU publishes indicative age bands of 21 to 60 for salaried and 25 to 65 for self-employed applicants (add-on cardholders over 18), for Resident Indians. It does not publish an income or credit-score minimum for this card.

2026

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 1 Jul 2026

Fuel fair-usage terms tightened — trigger halved, levy on the whole aggregate

1% fair-usage charge once monthly fuel spends exceeded 50% of the credit limit or ₹50,000→1% on the entire aggregate once a single fuel transaction exceeds ₹10,000 or monthly fuel spends exceed ₹25,000

From 1 July 2026 AU tightened its fuel fair-usage charge: the trigger dropped from ₹50,000 of aggregate fuel spend in a calendar month to ₹25,000 (or a single fuel transaction above ₹10,000), and the 1% charge is now levied on the entire aggregate fuel spend for the month rather than the portion above the threshold. Fair-usage charges do not apply to international transactions. The complimentary fuel-surcharge waiver bands are unchanged.

  2. ▼ FeeEffective 14 Jun 2026

New 1% fair-usage charge on transportation spends

No transportation fair-usage charge→1% on the entire aggregate once monthly transportation spends exceed 50% of the credit limit or ₹25,000, whichever is lower

From 14 June 2026 AU levies a 1% fair-usage charge when aggregate transportation spends (MCC 4111, 4112 and 4784 — local commuter transport, passenger rail and tolls) in a calendar month exceed 50% of the credit limit or ₹25,000, whichever is lower. The charge applies to the entire aggregate transportation spend for the month, not just the excess. IRCTC and select marquee travel partners are excluded, international transactions are out of scope, and AU exempts the ixigo AU co-brand variants entirely. This charge is separate from (and adds to) the April 2026 removal of reward-point earning on transportation MCCs.

  3. ◆ LaunchEffective 4 May 2026

AU Tejas launches as part of a four-card cluster

AU Bank launched Tejas alongside Ananta, Laksya and Prathama — an entry card at ₹500+GST (waived on ₹1.5L annual spend) with a 2,000-point (or ₹500 voucher) welcome benefit. It bundles two separate reward mechanisms: base reward points on all spends, accelerated on AU Rewardz-platform bookings (flights, hotels, vouchers, bill payments), plus a flat ~10% cashback/discount at named partner brands (movies via District by Zomato, grocery via Amazon, food delivery via Zomato, cabs, AU 0101 bill payments), each capped monthly. No lounge access.
