Fibe Axis Bank Credit Card

The Fibe Axis Bank Credit Card is a lifetime-free RuPay card (issued with the Fibe app, the former EarlySalary) aimed at young, digital, UPI-first spenders. It pays 3% cashback on entertainment, online food delivery and local commute/cabs — under a combined ₹1,500-per-cycle cap — and 1% on everything else. Read the UPI small print before you buy the pitch: Axis excludes credit-card-on-UPI transactions under ₹2,000 and CC-on-UPI to small merchants from cashback entirely, and nothing under ₹100 earns, so the everyday ₹200 QR scan this card is marketed for pays nothing. It is India's first "numberless" card (no number or CVV printed, for security), is RuPay so it links to UPI apps, and adds up to 4 domestic lounge visits a year — spend-gated — plus a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. There is no joining or annual fee. It is currently offered to Fibe app customers only, so availability is gated.

In-depth review

Fibe Axis Bank Credit Card

A lifetime-free RuPay 'numberless' card that pays 3% cashback on food delivery, entertainment and local commute (combined ₹1,500/cycle cap) and 1% on everything else. It is sold as a UPI card, but credit-card-on-UPI under ₹2,000 and UPI to small merchants earn nothing — so read that before you plan around it. Lounge visits and a fuel-surcharge waiver at zero cost still make it a tidy secondary card, as long as you can get it, because it's gated to Fibe app customers.

Young spenders whose statement is food delivery, OTT/entertainment and cab rides, who can get it through the Fibe app. A free secondary card for that basket — not a general UPI earner, because small-ticket CC-on-UPI is excluded, and not a high-spend primary.

The concern

The card is sold as UPI-first, yet credit-card-on-UPI under ₹2,000 and CC-on-UPI to small merchants earn no cashback at all — which is most everyday QR payments by count. The 3% categories also share one ₹1,500/cycle cap, and availability is limited to Fibe app customers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Fibe Axis Bank card lifetime free?
Yes — no joining or annual fee, ever.
How much cashback does it earn?
3% on entertainment, online food delivery and local commute (combined ₹1,500/cycle cap), and 1% on everything else. Nothing under ₹100 earns. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 3% on ott & entertainment (rewards capped at ₹1,500 a month in that category), against 1% on other spends — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. Figures as of October 2026.
Can I use it on UPI, and does UPI earn cashback?
Yes, it is a RuPay card, so it links to PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm — but read the exclusion before you rely on it. Axis pays no cashback on credit-card-on-UPI transactions under ₹2,000, or on CC-on-UPI to small merchants. A ₹200 QR scan at a neighbourhood shop earns nothing. The 1% base reaches your larger UPI payments to bigger merchants, not the everyday small ones.
Are the lounge visits unconditional?
Not automatically. Since 1 May 2024 Axis gates domestic lounge access on ₹50,000 of eligible spend in the previous 3 calendar months. The gate is waived for the month your card is issued and the 3 calendar months after that, and Fibe is not on the list of cards exempt from it. As per the card's current benefit schedule: Up to 4 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits a year (max 1 per quarter) — requires ₹50,000 of eligible spend in the previous 3 calendar months, waived only for the month the card is issued and the 3 calendar months after it. Figures as of October 2026.
What is a numberless card?
It is India's first numberless card — no card number or CVV is printed on the physical card, for added security; details live in the app.
Does Axis charge a fee on any of my everyday spends?
Since 20 December 2024 Axis charges 1% on cumulative utility spends of ₹25,000 or more per statement cycle, on wallet loads of ₹10,000 or more, on fuel of ₹50,000 or more, and on online skill-based gaming of ₹10,000 or more, plus 1% per rental transaction and 1% on education payments made through third-party apps. These are portfolio-wide Axis charges, not Fibe-specific.
How will Axis apply my payment across the outstanding balance from 28 August 2026?
From 28 August 2026 Axis clears a credit card payment in this order — fees and charges including taxes, then EMIs, then interest charges, then purchase transactions, and cash advances last. That swaps the final two: the order it replaced cleared cash advances fourth and purchases last. It only bites if you pay less than the full statement balance, because a part-payment now settles purchases before it reaches a cash advance — and Axis charges interest on a cash advance from the day of withdrawal, with no interest-free period, so the costliest balance is the one left outstanding longest. Paying the statement balance in full makes the order irrelevant.

2026

  1. ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

Dynamic currency conversion markup more than doubles to 3.5%

    1.5% + GST→3.5% + GST

Axis Bank raised the dynamic currency conversion mark-up from 1.5% to 3.5% plus GST. DCC applies when an overseas merchant offers to bill you in rupees instead of the local currency, and it stacks on top of the usual foreign-currency mark-up. Declining the rupee option at the terminal and paying in the local currency avoids the charge entirely.

  2. ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

New top late-payment slab of Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000

Rs 1,200 on any total payment due above Rs 10,000→Rs 1,200 from Rs 10,001 to Rs 50,000; Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000

Axis Bank added a fifth late-payment slab. Everything up to Rs 50,000 is unchanged, but a total payment due of more than Rs 50,000 now attracts Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,200. The same notice fixes the order in which a payment is applied to the outstanding: fees and charges including taxes first, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

Verification: Axis Bank ↗ · Confidence: High

  3. ▼ RewardObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

Tolls and road fees stop earning rewards; gift cards split into their own category

Bridge fees, road fees and tolls earned at the normal rate→No rewards or cashback on bridge fees, road fees and tolls

Axis Bank added bridge fees, road fees and tolls to the spends that earn nothing. Separately, gift card purchases move out of the Wallet spend category into a new Gift Card category; they already earned no rewards, and they continue to be excluded from spend-based fee waivers and milestone thresholds.

Verification: Axis Bank ↗ · Confidence: High

2025

  1. ◆ RewardEffective 20 Jun 2025

Reward-exclusion method switched from MCC to spend category

    MCC-based→spend-category-based

Axis reworked how non-earning spends are identified — by spend category (Rent, Wallet load, etc.) rather than the 4-digit Merchant Category Code. Axis states the excluded categories themselves are unchanged: Education, Rent, Wallet load, Government services, Insurance, Gold & Jewellery, Fuel, Gift Cards, Cash advances and Repayments earn no cashback.

Verification: Axis Bank ↗ · Confidence: High

2024

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 20 Dec 2024

Spend surcharges introduced across the Axis portfolio

No surcharge on utility, wallet, fuel or gaming spends; 1% rent surcharge capped ₹1,500/txn→1% on cumulative utility spends of ₹25,000+ per statement cycle; 1% on wallet loads of ₹10,000+; 1% on fuel of ₹50,000+; 1% on online skill-based gaming of ₹10,000+; 1% per rental transaction, uncapped; 1% on education payments via third-party apps

Axis's portfolio-wide repricing of 20 December 2024 applies to the Fibe card as it does to every other active Axis card, and it is published on the Fibe product page's own Fees & Charges table. The surcharges are assessed on cumulative spend within a statement cycle rather than per transaction, so they switch on once for the whole cycle's volume in that category. They bite less here than on a utility-rewarding card, since Fibe pays only the 1% base on utilities — but a fee on a spend earning 1% is a net negative, and the rent surcharge is uncapped. The equivalent event was already recorded on the Axis Cashback timeline; it was missing here.
