In-depth review
Axis Bank SUPERMONEY RuPay Credit Card
A lifetime-free RuPay/UPI card built with the super.money app that pays 3% cashback on QR scan-and-pay through the app and 1% on everything else. A January 2026 revamp removed the flat ₹500-per-statement-cycle cap — the 1% base is now uncapped — but the 3% is now capped at the cashback you earn from your other spends, so it stays a strong secondary UPI card rather than a primary one.

- Strongest value if you spend heavily on everyday spends (1% back; 3% only at QR scan-and-pay UPI via the super.money app).

✓ Pros
- Lifetime free — no joining or annual fee
- 3% cashback on QR scan-and-pay through the super.money app
- UPI-linked RuPay — pay by scanning QR codes, no card swipe needed
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver
✕ Cons
- The 3% is capped at 1× your base cashback and only on QR scan-and-pay through the super.money app — a strong secondary, not a primary card
- The 3% rate needs you to scan a QR code through the super.money app; other spends, including UPI through other apps and super.money payments that are not QR scans, earn 1%
- 3.5% forex markup — not for international transactions
- Since 28 August 2026 Axis charges 3.5% on dynamic currency conversion, up from 1.5%, when a merchant abroad bills you in rupees, so choose to pay in the local currency
- Sourcing is restricted — Axis states that for existing Axis Bank customers the card is available only to Axis Bank Flipkart Credit Card holders
- The card's cashback T&C lists sixteen merchant categories that earn nothing — repayments, utilities, fuel, jewellery and watch stores, cash withdrawal, wallet loads, insurance, education, government services, financial institutions, rent, EMI transactions, purchases converted to EMI afterwards, telecom, gift cards, and bridge fees, road fees and tolls. Nothing under ₹100 earns either.

The bottom line
A genuinely useful free UPI cashback card: 3% on QR scan-and-pay through the super.money app and 1% everywhere, with no fee to justify. Removing the ₹500 flat cap in Jan 2026 helped — the 1% base is now uncapped — but the 3% is limited to 1× your base earn and only on super.money QR payments, so it stays a strong secondary rather than a primary card.

Best RuPay (UPI) Credit Cards in India (2026): What Actually Earns on UPI
RuPay credit cards let you pay by UPI and earn rewards — but the earn rate on a UPI-QR scan is rarely the headline rate. Here's an honest map of the best RuPay/UPI cards in 2026, the UPI earn trap to avoid, and when the RuPay version of a card beats its Visa twin.
Fibe Axis Bank Credit Card
A lifetime-free RuPay 'numberless' card that pays 3% cashback on food delivery, entertainment and local commute (combined ₹1,500/cycle cap) and 1% on everything else. It is sold as a UPI card, but credit-card-on-UPI under ₹2,000 and UPI to small merchants earn nothing — so read that before you plan around it. Lounge visits and a fuel-surcharge waiver at zero cost still make it a tidy secondary card, as long as you can get it, because it's gated to Fibe app customers.
slice UPI Credit Card
slice is a lifetime-free, UPI-first RuPay credit card — and after slice's merger with North East Small Finance Bank it is now a proper unsecured credit card issued by a licensed small finance bank, reporting cleanly to CIBIL. That makes it one of the better first cards for building a score. It earns cashback ('Monies') on everyday QR scans, carries zero forex on international online spends, and includes a built-in pay-in-3. The realistic earn is ~1%; the advertised 'up to 3%' needs balances most people won't hold.
Axis Bank Freecharge Plus Credit Card
The cashback sibling of the Freecharge card: 5% on Freecharge recharges and bill payments, 2% on local commute and 1% everywhere else, for a low ₹350 fee that waives at ₹50,000. A tidy bill-pay-and-commute card that Axis is no longer offering to new applicants — sharp inside its lanes, plain 1% outside them, with a long exclusion list to respect.
Kiwi RuPay Credit Card
Kiwi is a lifetime-free RuPay card built to earn cashback when you scan a UPI QR code in the Kiwi app — one of the few cards that pays on the small everyday payments most cards ignore. The catch every reader needs upfront: the free card earns roughly 1–1.5%, and the advertised 'up to 5%' is not free. It needs the paid Kiwi Neon tier (₹999 plus GST a year), which Kiwi offers only to select YES and AU cardholders, plus ₹1.5 lakh of spend in the membership year. Judge it as a ~1% free UPI card unless you spend heavily.
Samsung Axis Bank Signature Credit Card
The entry tier of Axis Bank's Samsung co-brand: 10% cashback on Samsung purchases (capped ₹2,500/month, ₹10,000/year) plus EDGE Reward Points on everyday spend, for a ₹500 fee that waives at ₹2 lakh. A device-buyer's card that earns its keep the year you buy a Samsung, and an ordinary 1% points card the rest of the time.
Samsung Axis Bank Infinite Credit Card
The premium tier of Axis Bank's Samsung co-brand: 10% cashback on Samsung purchases capped at ₹20,000/year, 3% on five partners, a large 30,000-point welcome benefit and full domestic-plus-international lounge access — for a ₹5,000 fee that waives at ₹7 lakh. Strong the year you buy heavily into Samsung; overkill if you don't.
Google Pay Flex Axis Bank Credit Card
A lifetime-free RuPay/UPI co-brand between Axis Bank and Google Pay: earn 'stars' worth ₹1 each, redeemable straight into UPI payments in Google Pay. Axis's contractual rate is 0.2%, doubling to 0.4% once you've spent ₹100 in the prior cycle, hard-capped at 1,500 stars a cycle. The 4X and 8X rates the card is marketed on are a Google Pay promotion on current-period spend that Axis explicitly disclaims. A convenient free secondary card for Google Pay natives, not a rewards engine.
Axis Bank Freecharge Credit Card
An entry-level, invite-only EDGE Reward Points card built around Axis Bank's own Freecharge app for recharges and bill payments, with spend-based monthly bonus points. A light ₹250 digital card for Freecharge regulars — not a cashback earner, and outshone by its own Plus sibling if cashback is what you want.

Dynamic currency conversion markup more than doubles to 3.5%
1.5% + GST→3.5% + GST
Axis Bank raised the dynamic currency conversion mark-up from 1.5% to 3.5% plus GST. DCC applies when an overseas merchant offers to bill you in rupees instead of the local currency, and it stacks on top of the usual foreign-currency mark-up. Declining the rupee option at the terminal and paying in the local currency avoids the charge entirely.

New top late-payment slab of Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000
Rs 1,200 on any total payment due above Rs 10,000→Rs 1,200 from Rs 10,001 to Rs 50,000; Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000
Axis Bank added a fifth late-payment slab. Everything up to Rs 50,000 is unchanged, but a total payment due of more than Rs 50,000 now attracts Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,200. The same notice fixes the order in which a payment is applied to the outstanding: fees and charges including taxes first, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

Tolls and road fees stop earning rewards; gift cards split into their own category
Bridge fees, road fees and tolls earned at the normal rate→No rewards or cashback on bridge fees, road fees and tolls
Axis Bank added bridge fees, road fees and tolls to the spends that earn nothing. Separately, gift card purchases move out of the Wallet spend category into a new Gift Card category; they already earned no rewards, and they continue to be excluded from spend-based fee waivers and milestone thresholds.

3% super.money QR cashback throttled to 1× base earn; sub-₹100 spends excluded
Bounded only by the ₹500 total cap→Capped at 1× the base cashback earned that cycle; sub-₹100 txns earn nothing
From 1 January 2026 (announced 10 December 2025) the 3% cashback on QR scan-and-pay through the super.money app is capped at the total cashback earned from all other 1% spends in the same billing cycle — with a ₹100 floor if those other earnings are under ₹100 — and transactions below ₹100 no longer earn any cashback. This sharply throttles reward for UPI-only users who spend little elsewhere.

Flat ₹500-per-cycle cashback cap removed — 1% base now uncapped
Flat ₹500 per statement cycle (all cashback)→1% base cashback uncapped
Announced 10 December 2025 and effective 1 January 2026, Axis scrapped the old flat ₹500-per-statement-cycle total cashback cap. The 1% base cashback on every eligible spend outside the 3% channel became uncapped, a clear gain for cardholders with high everyday spending away from super.money QR payments.
