CMA One BOBCARD Credit Card

The CMA One BOBCARD is gated: it is offered only to active members of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI). If you are not an ICMAI member you cannot apply, whatever your income or credit score. For members who can, it is an unusually well-equipped near-free card — a token ₹1 joining fee, no annual fee ever, a 2% foreign-currency markup where most of the BOBCARD range charges 3.5%, 12 complimentary domestic lounge visits a year, and free professional indemnity cover up to ₹5 lakh. Earning is the modest part: 1 reward point per ₹100 (about 0.25%) on most spends, and 5 points per ₹100 (about 1.25%) on dining, online and utility bills under a single 1,000-point-per-statement cap shared across all three categories. The bigger lever is the quarterly milestone — 4,000 bonus points, roughly ₹1,000, for every quarter you spend ₹1 lakh. The card is issued on both the Mastercard and RuPay rails; the RuPay variant is UPI-linked. Read the exclusions closely: fuel, groceries, rent, education, government and insurance payments earn nothing at all.

CardAdvisor does not issue cards, take applications, or act as an agent or broker for BOBCARD. Apply opens bobcard.co.in; your application is submitted to and decided by BOBCARD.

Mid tier
Judged on cost, this is effectively a free card — ₹1 once, then nothing, for 2% forex, 12 lounge visits and professional indemnity cover that normally cost a fee somewhere. Judged as a rewards card, it is ordinary: the 0.25% base is weak and the 5X cap tops out at ₹250 a month. Most of its value sits in the ₹1 lakh/quarter milestone and the forex rate, so it rewards a member who travels and spends steadily far more than a light user.

The concern

The reward exclusions are unusually wide — fuel, groceries, rent, education, government payments, insurance and wallet loads earn nothing, and the 1,000-point 5X cap is shared across dining, online and utilities rather than granted per category.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply if I am not an ICMAI member?
No. The CMA One BOBCARD is offered only to active members of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), and membership is verified at application. There is no route in for non-members, regardless of income or credit score.
Which network or rail does this card come on?
It is issued on Mastercard — Mastercard and Bank of Baroda launched the institute co-brand cards together in 2020 — with a RuPay rail for UPI, per BOB's own UPI-eligibility flag for this card. The RuPay variant links to UPI apps, though UPI spends earn only the core 1 point per ₹100 and never the 5X bonus.
What does the card cost?
A one-time ₹1 joining fee and no annual fee at all. It is the only BOBCARD with a ₹1 joining fee — the sister ICAI Exclusive and ICSI Diamond cards charge nothing. In practice ₹1 is a token, so the card is free to hold for life after that single rupee.
What is a BOBCARD reward point worth?
1 reward point is worth ₹0.25 when redeemed as cashback, which is what BOBCARD states officially. That makes the 5 points per ₹100 rate worth about 1.25% and the 1 point per ₹100 base about 0.25%. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1.25% on dining (rewards capped at ₹250 a month in that category), against 0.25% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. Figures as of October 2026.
What do fuel and grocery spends earn?
Nothing. Fuel is explicitly excluded from the reward programme, as are groceries and supermarkets, rent, education, government payments, insurance, hospitals, wallet loads, rail/bus/toll and even fast-food outlets. The 1% fuel surcharge waiver still applies.

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 1 Jul 2025

Finance charge raised to 3.75% per month

    3.25% per month (39% p.a.)→3.75% per month (45% p.a.)

Effective 1 July 2025 BOBCARD revised the monthly finance charge on carried balances and cash advances to 3.75% (45% a year) for all card variants except Eterna, Eterna FD and Tiara. This is the change behind the card's current 3.75%/month rate — it only applies if you revolve a balance or take a cash advance.

No reward points on utility bills→Core reward points restored on utility bills

From 1 July 2025 BOBCARD restored core reward points on utility bill payments (MCC 4900 — electricity, gas, water) across all variants, partly reversing the July 2024 special-category cull that had zeroed them out. Earning is at the card's core base rate, not an accelerated rate.

12 visits a year (3 per quarter), unconditional→12 visits a year (3 per quarter), only after ₹40,000 spend in the preceding calendar quarter

BOBCARD made the CMA One's 12 complimentary domestic lounge visits conditional on spending at least ₹40,000 in the previous calendar quarter (waived only for the quarter the card is issued). The benefit notice names the card explicitly as 'ICMAI One', at 3 visits per quarter.
