HPCL ENERGIE BOBCARD Credit Card

The HPCL ENERGIE BOBCARD is a fuel co-brand built around one merchant. At eligible HPCL retail outlets — including LPG and the HP Pay app — it earns 24 reward points per ₹150 (~4% at ₹0.25/point), and adds a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000 (capped ₹100 a statement), which is where BOBCARD's "up to 5% savings" headline comes from. Both the accelerated points and the surcharge waiver apply only at HPCL outlets on the eligible merchant list that HPCL shares with BOBCARD — a restriction tightened with effect from 15 July 2026, so a pump outside that list earns nothing extra. Utility bills and departmental stores earn 10 RP per ₹150 (~1.7%), and everything else just 2 RP per ₹150 (~0.3%). Each accelerated tier is capped at 1,000 reward points a statement, so the 4% fuel rate stops at about ₹6,250 of HPCL spend a month. It is issued only on RuPay, so it links to UPI apps. Fees are ₹499 joining and ₹499 annual, waived at ₹50,000 of anniversary-year spend.

In-depth review

HPCL ENERGIE BOBCARD Credit Card

The HPCL ENERGIE BOBCARD earns 24 reward points per ₹150 (~4% at ₹0.25/point) at eligible HPCL outlets plus a 1% HPCL fuel surcharge waiver, with quarterly domestic lounge access on a ₹499 fee that waives at ₹50,000. Both fuel benefits are gated to HPCL's eligible-outlet list and capped at 1,000 points a statement, and the base rate is a weak 2 RP per ₹150 — so it earns its keep only if you are genuinely loyal to HPCL.

Who is this for?

Drivers who consistently refuel at HPCL pumps and can keep monthly fuel spend near the ₹6,250 cap. The card pays well inside that lane and poorly outside it, so it works as a dedicated fuel card alongside a stronger everyday earner.

The concern

Both the 4% earn and the surcharge waiver are gated to HPCL's eligible-outlet list (tightened 15 July 2026) and capped at 1,000 points a statement; everything off-brand earns ~0.3%. One documented conflict — BOB's MITC footnote says waiver-eligible fuel transactions do not earn reward points, while the HPCL page advertises the stacked 4% points + 1% waiver; the page is the card-specific benefit statement, and we track the next MITC revision.

Frequently asked questions

What do I earn on fuel?
24 reward points per ₹150 (~4% at ₹0.25/point) at eligible HPCL retail outlets, including LPG and the HP Pay app, plus a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. Both are capped — the points at 1,000 RP a statement (about ₹6,250 of HPCL spend) and the waiver at ₹100 a statement. This card waives the 1% fuel surcharge, capped at ₹100 — the waiver offsets the surcharge itself, separate from any rewards the fuel spend earns. Figures as of October 2026.
Do fuel transactions that get the surcharge waiver also earn reward points?
BOB's own documents conflict here. The general MITC carries a footnote saying fuel transactions eligible for the surcharge waiver do not earn reward points, while the HPCL ENERGIE page explicitly advertises the stacked benefit — 4% in points plus the 1% waiver, its "up to 5% savings" headline. The page is the card-specific benefit statement, so we present the stacked reading; we track the next MITC revision for a definitive word.
Does it work at any petrol pump?
No. With effect from 15 July 2026 the accelerated reward points and the fuel surcharge waiver apply only at HPCL outlets on the eligible-merchant list HPCL shares with BOBCARD. Fuel bought elsewhere, and HP Pay wallet loads, earn only the base rate with no waiver.
Which network is it issued on?
RuPay only — there is no Visa or Mastercard version of this card. That means it can be linked to PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm for UPI payments, which earn the base 2 RP per ₹150.
What are the fees and how is the fee waived?
₹499 joining and ₹499 annual. The annual fee is waived on ₹50,000 of spend in each anniversary year, and 500 bonus reward points land on ₹5,000 of spend within 60 days of issuance. UPI spends do not count toward the joining reward or the annual fee waiver. The renewal fee is ₹499 plus 18% GST — ₹589 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹50,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹4,167 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
Is there lounge access?
Yes — 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits a year, one per quarter, at partner lounges. Since 1 January 2025 each visit requires ₹20,000 of spend in the preceding calendar quarter. As per the card's current benefit schedule: 4 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits a year (1 per quarter) at partner lounges, subject to ₹20,000 of spend in the preceding calendar quarter. Figures as of October 2026.

The bottom line

A focused, honest fuel card: ~4% back at eligible HPCL outlets plus a 1% surcharge waiver, with lounge access as a bonus. The base rate of 2 RP/₹150 (~0.3%) is among the weakest in the catalogue, and the 1,000-point statement cap ceilings the fuel earn at roughly ₹250 a month — so its value is almost entirely a function of how loyal you are to HPCL.

How this page was built

Counted from this card’s own record: 4 earn rules, 3 of them capped, 2 paid only at named merchants, the spends listed as earning nothing and 3 recorded perks. The renewal fee is conditional — it is waived on a published spend target, so the fee you pay depends on what you spend.

BOBCARD tied both the ~4% accelerated reward rate and the 1% fuel surcharge waiver to a specific list of eligible HPCL fuel outlets (by MID/TID). A fill-up at an HPCL pump that is not on that list now earns only the base 2 RP per ₹150 and no surcharge waiver, narrowing the card's core value proposition to a subset of HPCL stations.
