IndusInd Bank Avios Visa Infinite Credit Card

The IndusInd Avios Visa Infinite is one of India's most unusual cards — it earns British Airways/Qatar Avios directly from rupee spend, one of the world's most valuable airline currencies. It pays 3 Avios per ₹200 on base spend (domestic and international alike), 6 per ₹200 on point-of-sale spend inside the one international region you nominate as your "preferred destination", 5 per ₹200 at British Airways' and Qatar Airways' own sites and apps, and 1 per ₹200 on government, utility, education and insurance. Online spend even at the nominated destination earns the base 3, and fuel earns nothing at all. A two-rung milestone ladder adds 18,000 bonus Avios at ₹8 lakh of annual spend and another 18,000 at ₹16 lakh cumulative (36,000 a year maximum), on top of a 20,000-Avios welcome bonus and a 5,000-Avios bonus on each annual renewal. Read the forex line carefully — the headline mark-up is 3.5%, and the discounted 1.5% rate applies only to card-present spend at that one nominated destination. Priority Pass lounge access runs to 2 domestic + 2 international visits a quarter. The fee is ₹10,000 joining and ₹5,000 a year thereafter, with no waiver. For a BA/Qatar flyer who will actively hunt award seats it is uniquely useful; for everyone else it is the wrong tool, and scarce ex-India award availability is the perennial risk.

Should you get it?

  • Best for: Frequent international flyers who collect British Airways Avios, Travellers redeeming Avios for business-class and short-haul awards
  • Premium tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.
  • Strongest value if you spend heavily on International (3% back).
  • Frequent travellers benefit from the included airport lounge access.

Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • Earns British Airways Avios directly on Indian rupee spends
  • Up to 6 Avios per ₹200 on card-present spend in your nominated preferred international destination
  • 20,000-Avios welcome bonus, up to 36,000 milestone Avios a year, and 5,000 more on every renewal
  • Priority Pass lounge access (2 domestic + 2 international a quarter, with no spend gate) and airport meet-and-greet
  • Avios transfer to British Airways and Iberia for premium-cabin value

✕ Cons

  • Avios value depends on redeeming for flights, not statement credit
  • ₹10,000 joining plus ₹5,000 annual fee needs frequent flying to justify, and there is no fee waiver
  • The forex mark-up is 3.5%, not 1.5% — the discounted rate applies only to card-present spend at the one international region you nominate, so online spend even there is charged the full rate
  • Fuel transactions earn no Avios at all — IndusInd stopped accruing on fuel across the portfolio on 1 April 2018
  • Best value only for British Airways / oneworld flyers

The concern

Avios value depends on BA/partner award availability ex-India, which is scarce — casual collectors may sit on points they cannot spend well. The 1.5% forex rate is also narrower than it looks, applying only to card-present spend at one nominated destination.

Frequently asked questions

How many Avios does the card earn?
3 Avios per ₹200 on general spends, 5 per ₹200 at British Airways' and Qatar Airways' own sites and apps, and 6 per ₹200 on card-present spend inside the one international region you nominate as your preferred destination. Online spend at that destination earns the base 3, and government, utility, education and insurance earn 1 per ₹200. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 3% on international, against 1.5% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. Figures as of October 2026.
What forex markup does the Avios card charge?
The headline mark-up is 3.5%. IndusInd's discounted 1.5% rate applies only to point-of-sale spend inside the one international region you nominate as your preferred destination — online spend there, and everything outside it, is charged 3.5%. You can change the nominated region once a year. On this card the foreign-currency markup is 3.5%, and 18% GST applies on the markup fee, so the effective cost is about 4.13% of the transaction. On ₹1,00,000 of overseas spend that works out to roughly ₹4,130 in conversion charges before any rewards offset. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the welcome bonus?
20,000 bonus Avios, credited 15 days after the joining fee is received. A limited-time doubled 40,000-Avios offer ran until 31 January 2026 and has lapsed, but the base bonus is still on offer. Each annual renewal then adds a further 5,000 bonus Avios. The welcome benefit is currently valued at about ₹20,000 against a joining fee of ₹11,800 all-in (incl. GST) — a first-year net of roughly ₹8,200 in your favour before any spend-based rewards. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the fee?
₹10,000 joining and ₹5,000 annual (charged after 12 months), both plus taxes. There is no spend waiver on either.
Where do the Avios go?
They are British Airways Avios, transferable to the British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus for reward flights.
What is the milestone bonus spend ladder?
18,000 bonus Avios on ₹8 lakh of annual spend, plus another 18,000 at ₹16 lakh cumulative — 36,000 total per year across the two tiers. The current milestone schedule: 18,000 bonus Avios on your first ₹8,00,000 of spend in a year, credited 10 days after the statement in which the milestone is met. Fully hit, that is worth about ₹18,000 a year on top of regular earn. Figures as of October 2026.

British Airways & Qatar Avios in India 2026: One Currency, Six Airlines, and How to Feed It From an Indian Card

Avios is a single points currency shared across British Airways, Qatar Privilege Club, Iberia Plus, Finnair Plus and Aer Lingus — so Avios collected on an Indian card can be spent on any of them. This guide maps every India feeder route (HDFC Infinia/Diners Black at 2:1, Regalia Gold at ~3:1, Amex MR at 2:1, HSBC TravelOne at 1:1, SBI Card MILES at 1:1, and the IndusInd Avios card that earns Avios directly), why Finnair is the smarter first hop, the €10 person-to-person backdoor, Balance Boost, what an Avios is really worth for an Indian flyer, the taxes to watch, and how household pooling actually works.

IndusInd Bank Tiger Credit Card

An underrated pick — one of the more interesting lifetime-free travel cards in India: domestic and international lounge access, a low 1.5% forex markup, golf and a fuel-surcharge waiver, all for a fee of exactly zero. The rewards are the weak part and are widely misdescribed: they climb through an incremental annual-spend ladder that starts at 1 point per ₹100, so 0.40% on the first ₹1 lakh and 2.40% only on spend beyond ₹5 lakh.

→

IndusInd Bank Pinnacle Credit Card

The IndusInd Pinnacle is a premium lifestyle card with an unusual fee shape: a one-time ₹15,000 joining fee and no annual fee thereafter. The draw is the package — a green-fee golf programme, 24x7 concierge, movie tickets and Priority Pass — not the rewards, which are ordinary. And the lounge access is easy to misread: Priority Pass visits carry a US$35 charge within India. Judge it on golf and concierge, not returns.

→

IndusInd Bank Legend Credit Card

Read the current terms, not the old reviews. The IndusInd Legend was genuinely compelling — zero forex, unlimited global lounges, below super-premium pricing — but in 2026 it's been dismantled: lounge access was discontinued in March 2025, forex is 1.8% (not 0%), and InterMiles redemption is gone. What's left is a decent rewards card that costs ₹5,000 once at the front and nothing on renewal — nothing like the travel flagship the marketing implies.

→

IndusInd Bank Indus Solitaire Credit Card

A super-premium Mastercard World Elite built around one genuinely rare feature: a 0% forex markup. Add KrisFlyer transfers at 5 points to 4 miles, Taj Epicure, a 12-round golf programme and up to 32 lounge visits a year and it is a coherent travel tool — but the base reward rate is a low ~0.5%, so it only makes sense for a frequent international traveller who will actually use the forex and transfer benefits.

→

KrisFlyer SBI Card Apex

A ₹9,999 super-premium co-brand built for Singapore Airlines loyalists: 10 KrisFlyer Miles per ₹200 on SIA, miles credited straight to your KrisFlyer account, a 10,000-mile welcome and a fast-track to Elite Gold status. Powerful for frequent SIA flyers, hard to justify for anyone else.

→

Air India SBI Signature Card

DISCONTINUED for new applicants (SBI closed its Air India co-branded cards from 10 Oct 2024, post-Vistara merger; existing holders keep benefits). For reference: a focused co-brand for people who actually fly Air India: 10 Reward Points per ₹100 on Air India tickets, points that convert 1:1 to Maharaja Points, and a 20,000-point welcome. The ₹4,999 fee and modest 4-point base rate mean it only pays off if Air India is your regular airline.

→

IndusInd Bank Pioneer Legacy Credit Card

A Pioneer-relationship premium card — invite-only, not an open application. ₹50,000 joining (₹5,000 for existing Legacy customers) and no annual fee. It earns 1 point per ₹100 on weekdays and 2 on weekends, and Pioneer points redeem at a genuine 1 point = ₹1 or convert to KrisFlyer Miles. Lounge and golf perks are useful but quota-capped — a keep-if-offered card that sits below the Heritage and Private.

→

IndusInd Bank Pioneer Heritage Credit Card

The flagship of IndusInd's Pioneer banking programme — an invite-only, relationship-gated super-premium card, not one you apply for online. It earns 1 point per ₹100 domestic and 2.5 per ₹100 international, and those points redeem at a genuine 1 point = ₹1, so the reward is worth its face value. Zero forex markup, unlimited domestic and international lounges, complimentary golf and a concierge justify the fee for the right high-spending traveller.

  1. ▼ BenefitEffective 21 Dec 2025

    Complimentary air-accident insurance withdrawn

Complimentary air-accident cover provided with the card→No air-accident cover

On 21 December 2025 IndusInd discontinued the complimentary air-accident insurance feature across its credit cards, stating simply that the coverage "stands discontinued". The bank published no replacement and named no exempt card. Note that several IndusInd product pages still described the cover months afterwards — the Avios, Duo, Pioneer Private and Platinum pages all still advertised it in August 2026 — so a reader may encounter the old wording on IndusInd's own site; the dated withdrawal notice is the operative statement. Other insurance benefits are unaffected: lost-card liability, Total Protect fraud cover, travel insurance and purchase protection continue where the card carried them.

The same April 2025 revaluation lifted base earning from a token 1 Avios per ₹200 to 3 per ₹200 on general spend, with 6 per ₹200 at a chosen preferred international destination (POS) and 5 per ₹200 on British Airways / Qatar direct spend. A 5,000-Avios renewal bonus was also added.

IndusInd cut the joining fee from ₹40,000 to ₹10,000 and the annual renewal fee from ₹10,000 to ₹5,000 (both plus taxes), part of an April 2025 revaluation that made the card viable for a far broader audience.

    25,000 x2 at ₹8L each = up to 50,000/yr→18,000 x2 (₹8L annual + ₹16L cumulative) = up to 36,000/yr

Alongside the cheaper fee and better earn, the milestone ladder was reshaped downward — from two 25,000-Avios rungs (up to 50,000/yr) at launch to two 18,000-Avios rungs (up to 36,000/yr). The exact date sits within the April 2025 revamp; framed to that window.
