Kotak Cashback+ Prime Credit Card

The Kotak Cashback+ Prime is the flagship of Kotak's Cashback+ family and, unusually for a Kotak card, its rewards are honest cashback (1 point = ₹1) rather than reward points — worth noting because Kotak's thinnest currencies, on the League, Urbane and UPI RuPay cards, are revised in the MITC to about ₹0.07 a point, even though most other Kotak cards sit nearer ₹0.20. It earns 5% on online grocery, food delivery and entertainment plus auto-dealer spends, 3% on fuel, and an unlimited 0.5% on everything else. The catch is the cap: one 750-point (₹750) per-billing-cycle ceiling covers every accelerated category together, fuel included, so the high rates only apply to about ₹15,000 of accelerated spend a month — and once that ceiling is hit those categories earn nothing at all for the rest of the cycle, not even the 0.5% base. The joining and annual fee is ₹750, waived at ₹2 lakh of annual spend, though rent, wallet, utility, education and transportation spends do not count toward that target. There is no lounge access and forex is the standard 3.5%, so this is a home-spending cashback card, not a travel one. A base Cashback+ card also exists at the same ₹750 fee and the same 750-point cap — the difference is the categories, not the price: the base pays 5% on online movie tickets and OTT subscriptions where Prime pays 5% on entertainment and auto dealers.

Kotak Cashback+ Prime Credit Card

The flagship of Kotak's Cashback+ family, and one of the few Kotak cards worth holding for rewards rather than credit access — because its cashback is real ₹1-a-point value rather than reward points. It earns 5% on online grocery, food delivery and entertainment (plus auto dealers), 3% on fuel and 0.5% on everything else. The catch is the cap: the 5% bucket is limited to 750 points (₹750) per billing cycle across all those categories combined.

Who is this for?

For someone who spends steadily on online groceries, food delivery and fuel and wants simple ₹-back rather than points to decode. If your accelerated spend stays near the ₹15,000/month cap, the 5% is real money; past the cap those categories stop earning altogether rather than dropping to the 0.5% base, so heavy spenders should model the cap first.

Dining: 5% on ONLINE food delivery. Shares the single 750-point (₹750) per-cycle accelerated cap with online grocery, entertainment, auto dealers and fuel; earns nothing once the cap is met

Groceries: 5% on ONLINE grocery. All accelerated categories — online grocery, food delivery, entertainment, auto dealers and fuel — share ONE 750-point (₹750) per-billing-cycle cap, and earn nothing at all once it is met

Fuel: 3% cashback on fuel, inside the same 750-point (₹750) accelerated cap as grocery, food delivery, entertainment and auto dealers. A 1% fuel-surcharge waiver also applies, though Kotak's MITC says surcharge-waived transactions earn no points, so the two may not stack

Other: Unlimited 0.5% cashback on other eligible spends; excludes rent, utilities, education, government, wallet, online gaming and EMI. Unclaimed cashback expires one year after it is earned

Earns nothing on: Rent · Utility Bills · Education · Government & Tax · Wallet Loads · Online Gaming · EMI Conversions

These spends earn no rewards at all — not a reduced rate, and not the base rate. They are also normally left out of any milestone or fee-waiver calculation.

Fees & charges

The numbers that matter beyond rewards — verify on the issuer site before applying. Fees below are shown inclusive of 18% GST, as of 11 Oct 2026.

Real annual cost: ₹750 + 18% GST = ₹885 all-in. Joining fee ₹750 + 18% GST = ₹885 all-in. Issuers quote fees before tax — the all-in figure is what you actually pay if the waiver isn’t met.

1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹4,000 fuel transactions, up to ₹3,500 per anniversary year. Kotak's MITC adds that transactions given this waiver earn no reward points and names only the base Cashback+ card as exempt, which sits awkwardly beside the 3% fuel rate on the product page

The concern

The accelerated bucket is capped at just 750 points (₹750) per billing cycle across every accelerated category combined, fuel included, and those categories earn nothing once it is met. Add a long exclusion list (rent, utilities, education, government, wallet, EMI) and real return depends heavily on staying inside the cap.

Frequently asked questions

What is the annual fee for the Kotak Cashback+ Prime Credit Card?
The joining and annual fee is ₹750 plus GST, waived on annual retail spends of ₹2,00,000. Kotak's MITC leaves rent, wallet, utility, education and transportation spends out of the total counted toward that waiver, so only the rest of your spending moves you toward it. The renewal fee is ₹750 plus 18% GST — ₹885 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹2,00,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹16,667 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
How much cashback can I actually earn at 5%?
The 5% on online grocery, food delivery, entertainment and auto-dealer spends is capped at 750 reward points (₹750) per billing cycle across all those categories combined — and fuel counts toward the same ceiling — so roughly ₹15,000 of accelerated spend a month. Once the cap is met Kotak is explicit that accelerated categories earn nothing at all for the rest of the cycle — you do not fall back to the 0.5% base on them, you simply stop earning. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 5% on dining (rewards capped at ₹750 a month in that category), against 0.5% on other spends — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. Figures as of October 2026.
Is the cashback real money or reward points?
Real cashback — 1 reward point equals ₹1, redeemable in multiples of 400 points. That is a real difference from Kotak's thinnest reward currencies, on the League, Urbane and UPI RuPay cards, which the MITC revises to about ₹0.07 a point, though most other Kotak cards value a point nearer ₹0.20.
Which spends do not earn cashback?
Rent, utilities, education, government, wallet loads, online skill-based gaming, EMI and B2B transactions are excluded and earn nothing.
Is there lounge access?
No — the Cashback+ Prime has no airport lounge access. It is a home-spending cashback card, not a travel card.
Can I link the Cashback+ Prime to UPI?
Only on the RuPay variant. Kotak issues this card on two rails and links a Visa Rewards offer page and a RuPay Select offer page from the same product page; the RuPay one can be added to a UPI app. UPI spends earn the unlimited 0.5% base cashback, never the accelerated 5% or 3% rates.
Who is eligible for the Kotak Cashback+ Prime?
Kotak publishes no eligibility criteria for this card — it has no eligibility page, unlike most of the bank's other cards, and the product page states none. The only figure we show is the 18-year minimum age in Kotak's cardholder agreement, which covers all its cards; we show no income or credit-score figure, since Kotak publishes none, and the document list is the usual KYC and income set rather than a Kotak-stated requirement.
How has the Kotak Cashback+ Prime Credit Card changed over time?

The bottom line

How this page was built

Counted from this card’s own record: 4 earn rules, 3 of them capped, the spends listed as earning nothing and 1 recorded perk. The renewal fee is conditional — it is waived on a published spend target, so the fee you pay depends on what you spend.

→

Kotak UPI RuPay Credit Card

A lifetime-free, virtual-only RuPay card built for one job: putting a credit line behind your UPI QR payments. Link it to Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm and scan-and-pay from a credit line, earning 3 reward points per ₹100. Be clear-eyed on value, though — Kotak points are worth about ₹0.10 (₹0.07 as cash since June 2025), so the effective return is a thin ~0.3%, and a long exclusion list earns nothing. A convenience card, not a rewards engine.

→

Kotak Air+ Prime Credit Card

The flagship of Kotak's Air travel family — and, refreshingly, a Kotak card whose currency has real value: 1 Air Mile = ₹1 for flights and hotels booked on Kotak's Unbox portal. It earns 5 Air Miles per ₹100 on Unbox travel and 2 per ₹100 everywhere else (~2% base), with 3,000 welcome and 3,000 renewal miles that each cover about 85% of the ₹3,540 all-in fee, a low 2% forex markup and lounge access. Its ceiling is that value is best inside Kotak Unbox.

→

Kotak White Credit Card

The mainstream member of Kotak's White family, sitting well below the ₹12,500 metal White Reserve. For a ₹3,000 fee it runs on a milestone 'White Pass' currency — roughly ₹2,000 of value at ₹2 lakh of spend, scaling to ₹27,000 at ₹12 lakh — plus a Priority Pass membership, a ₹1,500 welcome voucher and a fuel-surcharge waiver. Because rewards are milestone-gated, the headline ~2.25% only lands at ₹12 lakh; moderate spenders sit closer to ~1%.

Kotak Cashback+ Prime launched — Cashback+ with an auto-dealer accelerator

5% on online food/grocery/entertainment and auto dealers, 3% fuel, 0.5% base

Kotak introduced the Cashback+ Prime alongside the Air+ Prime. It is a modified version of the existing Kotak Cashback+ rather than a wholly new product: the Prime variant adds 5% cashback at eligible auto-dealer merchants on top of the 5% on online grocery, food delivery and entertainment, 3% on fuel and an unlimited 0.5% on everything else. The accelerated bucket stays capped at 750 points (₹750) per billing cycle across those categories combined — fuel counts toward the same ceiling, not a separate one. The card carries a ₹750 joining and annual fee, waived at ₹2 lakh of annual spend. Unusually for Kotak, the rewards are honest cashback at 1 point = ₹1 rather than the bank's weaker legacy reward points. Kotak does not publish a launch date for the card; the 8 May 2026 date here comes from secondary reporting, which is why this event is recorded as reconstructed.
