YES Bank POP-CLUB Credit Card

The YES Bank POP-CLUB is an app-first RuPay credit card from the POP (POPclub) app, built around POPcoins. The headline numbers look enormous — 10 POPcoins per ₹100 online, 2 per ₹100 offline, 2% in POPcoins on POP UPI — because POP markets a POPcoin as being worth ₹1. It is not a rupee. POP's own terms state POPcoins "cannot be converted to cash or any material or anything of monetary value" and cannot on their own pay for a purchase; they are a discount applied inside POPshop, in amounts POP sets and changes, on a catalogue whose prices POP also sets. POP may also let you put POPcoins towards some recharges and bill payments, at its discretion and at no published rate. We value a POPcoin at about ₹0.10, which makes the 10-per-₹100 online rate about 1% and everything else about 0.2%. Coins also expire 365 days after they are credited. There is no joining fee; the ₹399 annual fee is waived at ₹1.5 lakh annual spend, and crossing that bar adds 1,500 POPcoins (≈₹150). Existing YES Bank credit cardholders cannot apply.

The rate card and the reality are two different things. Ten POPcoins per ₹100 reads like a 10% online card and is closer to 1%, because a POPcoin is a capped, expiring discount inside POP's own shop rather than money — POP's terms say so explicitly. The welcome bundle is the most reliable value here, and it is one-off. Against ₹399 plus GST and a ₹1.5 lakh waiver bar, a plain 1.5%-or-better cashback card beats it for almost everyone.

  • Welcome bundle of partner vouchers and memberships — the most dependable value the card offers

✕ Cons

  • A POPcoin is not ₹1 — POP publishes no cash rate for it, and at our valuation of about ₹0.10 the headline 10-per-₹100 online rate is worth about 1%
  • POP's own terms say POPcoins cannot be converted to cash and cannot by themselves pay for a purchase
  • POPcoins expire 365 days after they are credited
  • How many POPcoins you may spend on an order is set by POP and changes, and POP also sets the prices in the shop where you spend them
  • The ₹399 fee is only fully waived at ₹1.5 lakh annual spend; the 400-POPcoin consolation is ≈₹40
  • Since 1 June 2026 the 1% fuel-surcharge waiver covers only fuel transactions of ₹1,000 to ₹3,500, up to ₹100 a statement cycle, and never fuel paid by UPI

The concern

A POPcoin is not a rupee. POP's own terms say POPcoins cannot be converted to cash and cannot by themselves pay for anything — they discount purchases inside POP's app, by an amount POP decides, and expire in 365 days. The advertised 10-per-₹100 is worth roughly 1%.

Frequently asked questions

What are the fees on the POP-CLUB card?
There is no joining fee. The ₹399 annual fee (plus GST) is waived if you spend ₹1.5 lakh in a year. Below that you receive 400 POPcoins, which is worth about ₹40 — not an offset for the fee.
Is a POPcoin really worth ₹1?
POP markets a POPcoin as being worth ₹1, but its own terms say POPcoins cannot be converted to cash and cannot on their own pay for a purchase — they discount orders inside POPshop, by an amount POP sets. POP may also let you use them against some recharges and bill payments, but it publishes no rate, so we value them at about ₹0.10. They expire 365 days after they are credited.
How do POPcoins work?
You earn 10 POPcoins per ₹100 online (capped at 6,000 a month, 500 per transaction), 2 POPcoins per ₹100 offline, and 2% in POPcoins on POP UPI. At our valuation of about ₹0.10 a coin, that is roughly 1% online and 0.2% elsewhere.
