RBL Bank TVS Credit Card

The RBL TVS Credit Card is an entry co-brand issued with TVS Credit, earning 2 reward points per ₹100 on online spends (capped at 1,000 points a month, about ₹50,000 of online spend) and 1 point per ₹100 in-store. Points are worth roughly ₹0.25 each, so the effective online rate is about 0.5% — thin. Its more tangible draws are the welcome bonus (2,000 points on first purchase), a fuel surcharge waiver, a buy-one-get-one movie ticket on ₹10,000 monthly spend, and one executive railway-lounge visit a quarter. A long exclusion list (fuel, utilities, rent, insurance, wallets, EMI) keeps rewards to core retail. The fee is ₹500 + GST and RBL publishes no spend-based waiver on this card, so budget for it every year.

In-depth review

RBL Bank TVS Credit Card

An entry-level TVS co-brand with a low ₹500 fee, a fuel surcharge waiver, a quarterly railway-lounge visit and a buy-one-get-one movie ticket. The rewards themselves are thin — about 0.5% online once you value the points honestly — so treat it as a perk card, not a rewards engine.

The concern

The reward rate is low once points are valued honestly, the 2X online rate is capped at 1,000 points a month, and a wide exclusion list (fuel, utilities, rent, insurance, wallets) means much everyday spend earns nothing.

Frequently asked questions

What network is the RBL TVS Credit Card on?
It is issued on Mastercard, and a RuPay variant is also available. Confirm the network on your welcome kit, as UPI linkage is only possible on the RuPay version.
How much does the card really earn?
2 reward points per ₹100 online (capped at 1,000 points a month) and 1 point per ₹100 in-store. At about ₹0.25 a point, that is roughly 0.5% online and 0.25% in-store. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 0.5% on online shopping (rewards capped at ₹250 a month in that category), against 0.25% on other spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the welcome benefit?
2,000 bonus reward points on your first purchase within 30 days of card issuance, after the annual fee is paid. The welcome benefit is currently valued at about ₹500 against a joining fee of ₹590 all-in (incl. GST) — a first-year net of roughly ₹90 against you before any spend-based rewards. Figures as of October 2026.
Which spends do not earn rewards?
Fuel and auto, utilities, insurance, rent and real estate, education, wallets, government services, railways, cash and EMI conversions are all excluded from earning.
Is the annual fee waived on spending?
No. RBL publishes no spend-based waiver for this card — the ₹500 + GST fee is charged in year one and again at every renewal, so weigh it against the perks you will actually use. The renewal fee is ₹500 plus 18% GST — ₹590 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Figures as of October 2026.
What interest rate does the card charge?
RBL prices interest by credit-bureau band rather than per card, within a published ceiling of 3.99% a month. The bands are 3.35% a month above a CIBIL score of 775, 3.85% from 725 to 775, and 3.99% below 725.

2026

  1. ▼ FeeObserved Jan 2026 · Effective 7 Jan 2026

New 1% fee on large FASTag top-ups and toll payments

No FASTag or toll transaction fee→1% fee on any FASTag-loading or toll-payment transaction above ₹10,000

From 7 January 2026 RBL Bank charges a 1% fee on any single FASTag-loading or toll-payment transaction above ₹10,000, measured per transaction per card, across merchant category codes 4784, 4111 and 4131. Because the threshold is per transaction rather than a monthly aggregate, it bites on one-off large FASTag top-ups rather than on regular commuting; splitting a top-up below ₹10,000 avoids it. The fee sits alongside RBL's existing 1% charges on rent, on utility spends above ₹50,000 a month, on fuel transactions above ₹10,000, and on education payments routed through third-party apps. It is a fee on the transaction, not a change to reward earning — these categories already earn no reward points on most RBL cards.

2024

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 15 Oct 2024

New 1% fees on high-value fuel, utility & third-party education spends

No category surcharges beyond standard fuel-surcharge rules→1% on fuel >₹10,000, utilities >₹50,000/month, third-party-app education payments

From 15 October 2024 RBL added, across its card portfolio, a 1% fee on any single fuel transaction above ₹10,000 (capped ₹3,000), a 1% fee on utility spends above ₹50,000 in a month, and a 1% fee on education payments made through third-party apps (Cred, PhonePe, Paytm, MobiKwik and similar). These fees apply regardless of the card's reward structure.

  2. ▼ RewardEffective 15 Oct 2024

Reward earning & milestone qualification cut on many categories

Wide retail spend earned points and counted toward milestones→Education, government, cash, Bills2Pay, contracted services etc. earn zero; excluded from milestone qualification

Effective 15 October 2024, as part of an RBL portfolio-wide change (RBL cites BookMyShow Play, World Safari, Platinum Maxima and others), base reward points stopped accruing on Education, Government Services, Contracted Services, Cash, Bills2Pay and similar categories, and a long list of categories — fuel & auto, utilities, insurance, quasi-cash, railways, rent, wallet and EMI conversion — no longer counted toward milestone bonus points, narrowing what qualifies for the card's ₹1.5 lakh milestone.
