Quick verdict: For travellers who book everything through MakeMyTrip, a quietly excellent deal — 6% myCash on MMT hotels, 3% on flights, cabs and buses, MMTBLACK Gold status and a class-leading 0.99% forex markup, all for ₹999. The one thing that made it stand out beyond the platform — lounge access with no spend condition — ended on 30 June 2026. The rest of the catch is the co-brand one: your value lives inside MMT, and the platform's pricing can quietly erode it. Superb if you book MMT anyway; a trap if you price-shop.
For travellers who book everything through MakeMyTrip, the MMT ICICI card is a quietly excellent deal — a co-brand where booking discounts, myCash rewards and MMTBLACK status stack on top of each other on every trip. ICICI consolidated its older MMT cards into a single, cleaner product with a standout 0.99% forex markup. The trade-off is the usual co-brand one: you're marrying the MakeMyTrip platform, and your rewards live and die inside it.
The 2026 consolidation
This card replaced the discontinued MMT ICICI Signature and Platinum variants, folding the best of both into one ₹999 product (the fee waives at ₹3 lakh of annual spend). If you held one of the old cards, this is the successor; if you're applying fresh, it's the only MMT ICICI card on offer now. The consolidation was a genuine upgrade — it kept the strong earning, added a class-leading forex rate, and simplified the lineup.
What it earns
The structure rewards MakeMyTrip bookings heavily:
- 6% myCash on hotel bookings via MMT — the 6% rate is hotels only.
- 3% on flight, bus and cab spends through MMT.
- 1% on all other retail, on or off the platform.
- A welcome MakeMyTrip voucher worth ₹1,000 and another ₹1,000 hotel voucher each year when you pay
the annual fee, plus a complimentary MMTBLACK Gold membership for 12 months.
For a MakeMyTrip loyalist, those rates compound with MMT's own platform discounts and BLACK-tier perks, and during MMT sales the effective return on a hotel booking can reach genuine double digits.
One earning limit is worth knowing before you put a policy on the card: insurance premiums earn 1% myCash but stop at 1,000 myCash per anniversary year — about ₹1 lakh of premium. ICICI writes that cap into the card's own block in its Most Important Terms and Conditions, separately from the rest of its range. Fuel, by contrast, still earns here: MakeMyTrip is one of the handful of ICICI cards the bank exempts from its portfolio-wide no-points-on-fuel rule.
The standout: 0.99% forex
The benefit that lifts this above a typical co-brand is the 0.99% forex markup — among the lowest of any Indian card, and a strong reason to carry it abroad. ICICI charges the same 0.99% as its dynamic currency conversion fee on this card, where most of the range now pays 3.5%, so the card stays cheap even if a terminal abroad bills you in rupees.
The 2026 catch and the platform risk
ICICI's broader 2026 devaluation caught up with this card in two steps. Under ICICI's 15 Jan 2026 revision the BookMyShow movie offer became spend-gated, requiring ₹25,000 of spend in the preceding quarter. The bigger one landed on 1 July 2026: the MakeMyTrip card had been carved out of ICICI's ₹75,000-a-quarter lounge condition, and that exemption was written to expire on 30 June 2026. It did. Domestic lounge access — two visits a quarter, up to eight a year — now needs ₹75,000 of spend in the preceding calendar quarter, exactly like the rest of the range. The single international visit a year, via Priority Pass and for the primary cardholder only, is unaffected. If you held this card partly for the unconditional lounges, that reason is gone.
The bigger, structural caveat is platform dependence. All the rich rewards flow through MakeMyTrip — which means MMT's fare markups can quietly claw back some of what the card pays out. A hotel that's ₹500 cheaper on another platform erodes your 6% myCash advantage. The card rewards genuine MMT loyalists; for anyone who price-shops across OTAs, the myCash can be an illusion if MMT isn't actually the cheapest option for your booking.
Who should hold it
The MMT ICICI card suits the committed MakeMyTrip user who books hotels and flights through the platform, will use the MMTBLACK status, and values the 0.99% forex on international trips. For that loyalist, the rewards compound beautifully and the ₹999 fee is trivial — and a traveller spending ₹25,000 a month clears the ₹75,000 quarterly lounge bar without thinking about it.
It's the wrong card for the OTA price-shopper (MMT markups can offset the rewards), for anyone who rarely books through MakeMyTrip, for the light spender who was counting on the lounges (they now cost ₹75,000 a quarter to unlock), and for those expecting the old Signature-variant extras (gone in the consolidation).
The bottom line
The MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank card is one of the better co-brands in India for the right person — 6% myCash on MMT hotels, 3% on flight, bus and cab spends, MMTBLACK Gold status, and a class-leading 0.99% forex markup. The 2026 consolidation that replaced the old Signature/Platinum cards left it cleaner and more competitive, but the year has since taken things back: the BookMyShow offer went behind a spend gate in April, and on 1 July the card's exemption from ICICI's ₹75,000-a-quarter lounge condition expired. What is left is a strong earning engine and an exceptional forex rate, wrapped in the inescapable co-brand truth that your value lives inside MakeMyTrip and the platform's pricing can quietly erode it. If you genuinely book through MMT and spend enough to keep the lounges live, this card compounds in your favour. If you shop around, look elsewhere — the rewards only count if MMT is where you were going to book anyway.
