RBL Bank Apex Credit Card

RBL Apex is a portal-first cashback card: unlimited 2% back when you book flights, hotels, shopping and gift vouchers through the RBL Bank Rewards Portal, plus a flat 1% on everyday spends capped at ₹500 a month. Milestone cashbacks of ₹1,000 at ₹2 lakh and ₹2,000 at ₹4 lakh of annual spend can fully cover the ₹1,000 fee — and opening a new RBL Bank Savings Account alongside the card waives that fee outright for as long as the account stays open. A quarterly domestic lounge visit and a buy-one-get-one BookMyShow movie ticket each month (up to ₹100) round out the sheet. The catch: the headline 2% only fires inside RBL's own portal — direct spends earn the capped 1% — and fuel, utilities, insurance, education, rent, wallet loads, government payments, EMI and cash do not earn.

The concern

The 2% is portal-gated and the base 1% is capped at ₹500/month; fuel, utilities, insurance, education, rent, wallet loads, government payments, EMI and cash earn nothing, so real-world return depends on funnelling spend through RBL's portal.

Frequently asked questions

How do I earn the 2% cashback?
The 2% cashback applies to flights, hotels, shopping and gift vouchers booked through the RBL Bank Rewards Portal. Spends made directly, outside the portal, earn the flat 1% instead. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1% on everyday spends (rewards capped at ₹500 a month in that category) — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. It reaches 2% at Flights, hotels, shopping & vouchers booked on the RBL Bank Rewards Portal, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
Is the cashback capped?
Yes — the base 1% cashback is capped at ₹500 per billing month. The portal 2% cashback is described as unlimited.
What are the milestone benefits?
You get ₹1,000 cashback at ₹2 lakh of eligible annual spend and a further ₹2,000 at ₹4 lakh — up to ₹3,000 that can more than cover the ₹1,000 fee. The current milestone schedule: ₹1,000 milestone cashback at ₹2 lakh of eligible annual spend — first rung of the ladder. Fully hit, that is worth about ₹1,000 a year on top of regular earn. Figures as of October 2026.
Which spends do not earn cashback?
Fuel and auto, utilities, insurance, education, rent and real estate, wallet loads, government services, quasi-cash and cash, EMI conversions and Bills2Pay are all excluded from earning cashback.
Can the annual fee be waived?
Yes. Opening a new RBL Bank Savings Account alongside the card waives the ₹1,000 annual fee entirely, for as long as that account stays open. There is no spend-based waiver. The renewal fee is ₹1,000 plus 18% GST — ₹1,180 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Figures as of October 2026.
Does the Apex include a movie benefit?
One free ticket a month on BookMyShow when you buy two or more, worth up to ₹100 — about ₹1,200 a year if you use it every month.

New 1% fee on large FASTag top-ups and toll payments

No FASTag or toll transaction fee→1% fee on any FASTag-loading or toll-payment transaction above ₹10,000

From 7 January 2026 RBL Bank charges a 1% fee on any single FASTag-loading or toll-payment transaction above ₹10,000, measured per transaction per card, across merchant category codes 4784, 4111 and 4131. Because the threshold is per transaction rather than a monthly aggregate, it bites on one-off large FASTag top-ups rather than on regular commuting; splitting a top-up below ₹10,000 avoids it. The fee sits alongside RBL's existing 1% charges on rent, on utility spends above ₹50,000 a month, on fuel transactions above ₹10,000, and on education payments routed through third-party apps. It is a fee on the transaction, not a change to reward earning — these categories already earn no reward points on most RBL cards.

Fuel, utilities, insurance, rent, EMI and wallet loads are excluded from earning; there is no reward-redemption fee. Being a cashback card it earns no RBL Reward Points. Exact launch day undocumented — a launch video and reviews place it in late December 2025.
