Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card

The Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card is a NeuCoins co-brand with a ₹1,499 fee reversed at ₹3 lakh of annual spend. It pays 5% back as NeuCoins on non-EMI spends at Tata Neu and partner Tata brands (BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Tata 1mg, Air India, Taj) and 1.5% on everything else, including UPI transactions on this RuPay variant, plus an additional up to 5% via NeuPass on select Tata Neu categories. Several categories carry their own monthly NeuCoin ceilings — grocery, insurance, utilities and telecom at 2,000 each, UPI at 500 — and fuel, wallet loads, rent, government, education, gaming, cash advances and EMI earn nothing at all. A NeuCoin is worth ₹1 within the Tata ecosystem, and a 1,499-NeuCoin welcome benefit covers about 85% of the ₹1,769 all-in first-year fee. SBI's terms exclude Merchant EMI and Flexipay from earning, unlike the HDFC Tata Neu cards. It carries an unusually low 1.99% forex markup, 8 domestic lounge visits (2 per quarter, on ₹75,000 previous-quarter spend) and 4 international visits via Priority Pass — though SBI's published Tata Neu domestic lounge list contains no metro airport at all.

A well-built co-brand — a true 5% inside a large everyday retail group, a rare 1.5% on UPI, and a 1.99% forex markup well under the 3.5% industry standard that punches above its mid-tier price. Its value is entirely a function of how Tata-centric your spending is; heavy Tata shoppers should hold it, everyone else should think twice. The concern

Real value is concentrated inside the Tata ecosystem — the 1.5% base is only average elsewhere and NeuCoins are best spent on Tata Neu.

Frequently asked questions

Does it charge extra for dynamic currency conversion?
Yes, and at the same rate. SBI's MITC applies a 1.99% dynamic currency conversion markup on this card — the same figure as its foreign-currency markup — charged on any transaction of ₹1,000 or more. DCC is what you pay when a merchant's terminal abroad offers to bill you in rupees; that offer also uses the merchant's own exchange rate. Always decline it and pay in the local currency.
What is a NeuCoin worth?
1 NeuCoin equals Re. 1 when redeemed on the Tata Neu App/Website or partner Tata brands, so the rewards behave like cashback within the Tata ecosystem.
Does it earn on UPI spends?
Yes. On the RuPay variant, UPI transactions earn 1.5% back as NeuCoins, and the card can be linked to UPI apps. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1.5% on everyday spends — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. It reaches 5% at Tata Neu & Tata brands, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the foreign-currency markup?
1.99% plus taxes — well below the 3.5% most Indian cards charge, which makes it useful for international spends. It is not the lowest available, since a number of premium cards now charge no forex markup at all. On this card the foreign-currency markup is 1.99%, and 18% GST applies on the markup fee, so the effective cost is about 2.35% of the transaction. On ₹1,00,000 of overseas spend that works out to roughly ₹2,348 in conversion charges before any rewards offset. Figures as of October 2026.
Do EMI purchases earn NeuCoins?
No — SBI's terms exclude Merchant EMI and Flexipay from earning NeuCoins entirely. This differs from the HDFC Tata Neu cards, where merchant EMI earns the base rate on principal, so it's worth checking if you buy on EMI often.
Do NeuCoins expire?
Tata Digital applies a validity period to NeuCoins at the NeuPass account level, and it is widely reported as 12 months from the end of the credit month. SBI's own card T&C publishes no expiry at all — it lists only forfeiture events such as a 90-day default. We have not been able to confirm the 12-month figure against a Tata or SBI source, so check the applicable date on your NeuPass balance rather than relying on it.
How does the NeuPass bonus work?
NeuPass (free, registered in the Tata Neu app) adds an additional up to 5% NeuCoins on select categories on Tata Neu, on top of the card's 5% — an "up to" rate that depends on your NeuPass standing. Check your current rate on the official Tata Neu NeuPass page.

Tata Neu Plus SBI Card

The low-fee entry into the Tata Neu ecosystem — ₹499, reversed at just ₹1 lakh of spend, 2% NeuCoins across Tata brands and 1% on everything else including RuPay UPI. A sensible starter for light Tata shoppers, but committed ecosystem users will earn far more on the Infinity variant.

→

Tata Card SELECT

A discontinued premium Tata co-brand from 2019 — 3X points on grocery, dining and international spends, up to 5X at Tata outlets, and spend-linked vouchers worth up to ₹6,000. Closed to new applicants and superseded by the Tata Neu SBI cards; documented here for reference only.

Tata NeuCoins & NeuPass: How India’s Tata Neu Rewards Ecosystem Actually Works (2026)

NeuCoins, NeuPass tiers, expiry and redemption are Tata Neu app features on India’s four Tata Neu credit cards — they work the same whether your card is issued by HDFC or SBI. This is the shared rulebook; only each card's own earn rate and fees differ.

Titan SBI Card

A lifestyle co-brand built around the Titan group — up to 7.5% cashback at World of Titan and the watch/eyewear brands, 5% at Mia/CaratLane/Zoya, 3% vouchers at Tanishq, plus 8 domestic and 4 international lounge visits. Superb if you buy jewellery, watches and eyewear from Titan; a modest 1.5% base if you don't.

→

Tata Card

A discontinued entry-level Tata co-brand from 2019 — a ₹499 card with 3X points on grocery, up to 5% value back at Tata outlets and a 1% fuel-surcharge waiver. Closed to new applicants and superseded by the Tata Neu Plus SBI Card; documented here for reference only.

→

Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank Credit Card

A high-earning co-brand that returns up to 10% in NeuCoins on Tata spends, plus 8+4 lounge visits, for a ₹1,499 fee waived at ₹3 lakh. Superb if you already shop BigBasket, Westside and Croma and fly Air India — near-worthless if you don't. The 2025–26 changes (UPI curbs, 12-month NeuCoin expiry) fence the rewards more tightly into Tata's rails. Buy it because you live in Tata, not to be lured in.

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 1 Nov 2025

Portfolio fee revision (education and wallet-load fees added)

SBI Card's portfolio-wide fee revision added a 1% fee on education payments made through third-party apps and a 1% fee on every wallet load above Rs.1,000, alongside higher cash-payment, cheque-dishonour and cash-withdrawal charges. The MITC also carries a 1% Utility Payments Fee where utility spend exceeds Rs.50,000 in a billing cycle (from 1 Dec 2024) and a Rs.199 processing fee on every rent-payment transaction. Recorded here 2026-08-06; the change applied portfolio-wide but had only been carried on a single card file.

    NeuCoins given a 12-month expiry

No fixed expiry (effectively indefinite)→12 months from end of credit month

From 1 Aug 2025, Tata Digital applied a fixed validity to NeuCoins at the NeuPass account level: NeuCoins credited on or after that date expire 12 months from the end of the month they are credited, and pre-existing non-promotional balances were set to expire 31 Jul 2026. Because NeuCoins pool in the shared Tata Neu account regardless of which card earned them, this platform-wide change also governs NeuCoins earned on the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card, ending indefinite hoarding.
