Landmark Rewards SBI Card

The ₹499 entry rung of SBI's Landmark ladder: 10 Reward Points per ₹100 (~2.5%) at Lifestyle, Home Centre, Max and Spar, a ₹500 welcome that covers most of the ₹589 all-in fee, and up to ₹2,000 in milestone points. A cheap, honest loyalty card if you shop the Landmark Group — but points are worth ₹0.25 and only really redeem in those stores.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 10 Reward Points per Rs.100 (~2.5%) at Lifestyle, Home Centre, Max, Spar, Baby Shop and EasyBuy
  • Low Rs.499 fee with a Rs.500 welcome-points benefit that covers most of the Rs.589 all-in fee
  • 8,000 bonus points (Rs.2,000) on Rs.2 lakh annual spend; points redeem instantly in-store
  • Simple, cheap entry to the Landmark rewards ecosystem

Cons

  • Rewards value only Rs.0.25 each and are most useful only at Landmark Group stores
  • Base rate is a token 1 RP per Rs.100 (~0.25%); fuel, rent, government, gaming, wallet and EMI earn nothing
  • No lounge access and no spend-based fee reversal

Quick verdict: The Landmark Rewards SBI Card is the cheap, honest way into SBI's Landmark co-brand ladder. At ₹499 — most of it covered by a ₹500 welcome-points benefit — it pays ~2.5% at Lifestyle, Home Centre, Max and Spar and adds up to ₹2,000 in milestone points. If you shop the Landmark Group, it's easy value; if you don't, the 0.25% base rate and Landmark-only redemption make it a card whose rewards you can't spend.

This is the entry rung below the SELECT and PRIME cards. Its brief is narrow and it meets it well: give a budget-conscious Landmark shopper store rewards on spending they were doing anyway, without a meaningful fee.

What it earns

Rewards are SBI Reward Points, where 4 points = ₹1 (₹0.25 each):

  • 10 Reward Points per ₹100 (~2.5%) at online and retail Landmark stores
  • 5 Reward Points per ₹100 (~1.25%) on dining, movies and international spends
  • 1 Reward Point per ₹100 (~0.25%) on other retail purchases

The 2.5% at Landmark stores is respectable for a ₹499 card, and points redeem instantly in-store. But the whole Landmark family shares the same shape, and I'll be blunt about it: the base rate on general spend is a token 0.25%, and fuel, rent, government, gaming, wallet loads and EMI earn nothing. This card rewards Landmark loyalty and almost nothing else.

The bonuses

The point bonuses make the tiny fee a non-issue:

  • Welcome: 2,000 bonus Reward Points (worth ₹500) on paying the annual fee — about 85% of the

₹589 all-in fee.

  • Milestone: 8,000 bonus Reward Points (worth ₹2,000) on ₹2 lakh of annual retail spend.
  • Fuel: a 1% surcharge waiver (₹500–₹3,000 transactions, up to ₹100 per cycle).

Like its siblings, this card has no spend-based fee reversal — but at ₹499 with a ₹500 welcome, it barely matters. For anyone who uses it at all in year one, it costs under ₹100 net.

Where it sits in the ladder

Match the card to your Landmark spend:

  • Base (₹499): 10 points per ₹100 at Landmark stores — for occasional Landmark shopping.
  • SELECT (₹1,499): 15 points per ₹100, bigger bonuses — for regular shopping.
  • PRIME (₹2,999): 25 points per ₹100 plus lounge access — for heavy shopping.

If you only pop into a Lifestyle or Home Centre now and then, this base card is the right choice — there's no sense paying more for earn rates you won't fill. Step up to SELECT only when your Landmark spend becomes regular.

The international rate is a net loss

The 5X band lumps dining, movies and international spends together at 5 Reward Points per ₹100 — about 1.25%. Listing international alongside dining reads like an invitation to carry the card abroad, and that is worth resisting: the foreign-currency markup is 3.50%. Spend ₹100 overseas and you earn about ₹1.25 while paying ₹3.50 to convert, so every overseas swipe costs roughly 2.25% net. The 5X label is real; it simply does not survive contact with the markup sitting beside it.

The other number to hold on to is the base rate. Outside the Landmark group and the 5X band, this card earns 1 Reward Point per ₹100 — about 0.25%, and fuel, rent, government payments, online gaming, wallet loads and EMI conversions earn nothing at all. That makes it a genuinely narrow card: strong inside Lifestyle, Home Centre, Max and Spar at 2.5%, close to inert everywhere else.

The conversion is what turns points into those percentages, and it is easy to skip: four Reward Points make ₹1. So the 10 points per ₹100 at Landmark stores is ₹2.50 back, and the 8,000-point milestone at ₹2 lakh of annual retail spend is worth ₹2,000 — comfortably the largest single benefit on the card, and four times the ₹499 fee if you reach it.

Who should hold it

Get it if you are an occasional Landmark Group shopper who wants a near-free card that earns store credit on the odd Lifestyle or Home Centre purchase. As a first card for someone loyal to those brands, it's a low-risk, low-cost pick.

Skip it if you rarely shop Landmark — the 0.25% base rate makes it dead weight — or if you want flexible rewards, since points only really work as Landmark store credit. For everyday spending across many merchants, a flat card like SBI Cashback or the general-purpose SBI SimplySave will serve you far better. This is a specialist starter card — good in its lane, and only its lane.

I have spent over a decade on Indian credit cards, mostly for the points and miles. I am a software engineer by profession, I hold and use the cards I write about, and I redeem through airline and hotel transfer partners: Avios, KrisFlyer, Flying Blue, Air India Maharaja Club, Accor ALL, Marriott Bonvoy and Taj. What I write about is what a card is actually worth after the fine print, the caps and exclusions that decide the real return, and the changes issuers make quietly. No paid placements.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Landmark Rewards SBI Card worth it?
For a Landmark Group shopper, yes — at ₹499 with a ₹500 welcome that covers most of the ₹589 all-in fee and 2.5% at Lifestyle, Home Centre and Max, it's easy money if you shop those stores. If you don't, the 0.25% base rate and Landmark-only redemption make it pointless.
What are the Reward Points worth?
4 points equal ₹1, so ₹0.25 each. Points redeem instantly in-store at Landmark brands. The rates are fine, but the rewards are Landmark store credit, not flexible cash.
How is it different from SELECT and PRIME?
This base card earns 10 points per ₹100 at Landmark stores; SELECT (₹1,499) earns 15 with bigger bonuses; PRIME (₹2,999) earns 25 and adds lounge access. Step up only as your Landmark spend rises.
Does it have lounge access or a fee waiver?
No lounge access — that's on PRIME — and the source data lists no spend-based fee reversal. The ₹500 welcome points cover about 85% of the ₹589 all-in fee (₹499 + GST), so year one costs under ₹100 net for anyone who uses it.
