Axis Bank Shoppers Stop Credit Card

The Axis Shoppers Stop card is a single-store loyalty card built around the Shoppers Stop First Citizen programme. It earns First Citizen points — 20 per ₹200 on Shoppers Stop Exclusive (private-label) brands, 12 per ₹200 on every other brand bought at Shoppers Stop, and 2 per ₹200 on all other spends. Axis puts the redemption value at ₹0.50 a point in its own value chart, and the points redeem only at Shoppers Stop, HomeStop and the group's beauty counters — so the Exclusive-brand rate is 5% back in store credit, other in-store brands 3%, and everything outside the estate a token 0.5%. The welcome kit is Shoppers Stop vouchers with a ₹2,250 face value — though each is gated behind its own minimum spend, so realising all of it takes roughly ₹19,000 in store — plus First Citizen points worth ₹300 on the first transaction within 30 days and a complimentary Golden Glow membership (extended exchange window, free delivery, birthday offers). There is a 1% fuel surcharge waiver, early access to two end-of-season sales and one festive sale a year, and 15% off up to ₹500 a month on EazyDiner. The ₹500 fee waives at ₹1 lakh of annual spend, but rent and wallet loads do not count towards that bar. Everyday categories such as rent, fuel, utilities, insurance and wallet loads earn nothing.

The Shoppers Stop card does one thing well: it rewards Shoppers Stop loyalty. If you already shop there several times a year, 5% back on Exclusive brands (in First Citizen points at Axis's own ₹0.50 each) plus the welcome vouchers clears the ₹500 fee comfortably. But the points are locked to Shoppers Stop, the off-store earn is a token 0.5%, and there is no lounge access — so it is strictly a companion card, not a daily driver. If you want an everyday cashback card, an [Axis ACE](/cards/axis-ace) or [Flipkart Axis] (/cards/axis-flipkart) fits far better.

The points redeem only at Shoppers Stop, so it's a companion card for genuine regulars, not a daily driver.

The concern

First Citizen points redeem only at Shoppers Stop and HomeStop, and the off-store earn is just 2 points per ₹200 — value is trapped unless you are a genuine Shoppers Stop regular.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Shoppers Stop card earn?
First Citizen points — 20 per ₹200 on Shoppers Stop Exclusive (private-label) brands, 12 per ₹200 on every other brand bought at Shoppers Stop, HomeStop, Arcelia and the group's beauty counters, and 2 per ₹200 on all other spends. The 12-point band is the general in-store rate, not a beauty-only rate. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 0.5% on everyday spends — percentages here are the real return after converting points at their card-specific value, not the headline points-per-₹100. It reaches 5% at Shoppers Stop and HomeStop — Shoppers Stop Exclusive brands, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
What is a First Citizen point worth?
₹0.50. Axis publishes the figure itself, in the footnote to the value chart on the card's product page, and its worked example agrees — ₹50,000 spent on Exclusive brands earns 5,000 points and is credited as ₹2,500 of savings. So the top band is 5% back in store credit, other in-store brands 3%, and everything outside the estate 0.5%. Shoppers Stop's own club policy declines to print a rate and refers you to the store or app, so treat ₹0.50 as the issuer's number rather than a contractual guarantee.
What is the welcome benefit?
Shoppers Stop vouchers with a ₹2,250 face value, First Citizen points worth ₹300 on your first transaction within 30 days, and a complimentary Golden Glow membership. Read the voucher stack carefully: each component carries its own minimum spend — three ₹500 vouchers each need ₹5,000 at Shoppers Stop or HomeStop, a fourth ₹500 voucher needs ₹2,500 on Exclusive brands, and the last ₹250 is an online voucher. Extracting the whole ₹2,250 therefore takes roughly ₹19,000 of in-store spend. The welcome benefit is currently valued at about ₹2,250 against a joining fee of ₹590 all-in (incl. GST) — a first-year net of roughly ₹1,660 in your favour before any spend-based rewards. Figures as of October 2026.
Does it have lounge access?
No — the Shoppers Stop card has no airport lounge access. It does carry a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹400 a statement month.
What is the fee waiver?
₹1 lakh of annual spend waives the ₹500 annual fee — but rent (MCC 6513) and wallet loads (MCC 6540) are excluded from the qualifying total, as are EMI conversions, balance transfers, cash withdrawals and the card's own fees and charges. The renewal fee is ₹500 plus 18% GST — ₹590 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹1,00,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹8,333 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
How will Axis apply my payment across the outstanding balance from 28 August 2026?
From 28 August 2026 Axis clears a credit card payment in this order — fees and charges including taxes, then EMIs, then interest charges, then purchase transactions, and cash advances last. That swaps the final two: the order it replaced cleared cash advances fourth and purchases last. It only bites if you pay less than the full statement balance, because a part-payment now settles purchases before it reaches a cash advance — and Axis charges interest on a cash advance from the day of withdrawal, with no interest-free period, so the costliest balance is the one left outstanding longest. Paying the statement balance in full makes the order irrelevant.

The bottom line

How this page was built

Counted from this card’s own record: 2 earn rules, 1 paid only at named merchants, the spends listed as earning nothing and 1 recorded perk. The renewal fee is conditional — it is waived on a published spend target, so the fee you pay depends on what you spend.

  1. ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

Dynamic currency conversion markup more than doubles to 3.5%

    1.5% + GST→3.5% + GST

Axis Bank raised the dynamic currency conversion mark-up from 1.5% to 3.5% plus GST. DCC applies when an overseas merchant offers to bill you in rupees instead of the local currency, and it stacks on top of the usual foreign-currency mark-up. Declining the rupee option at the terminal and paying in the local currency avoids the charge entirely.

  2. ▼ FeeObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

New top late-payment slab of Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000

Rs 1,200 on any total payment due above Rs 10,000→Rs 1,200 from Rs 10,001 to Rs 50,000; Rs 1,300 above Rs 50,000

Axis Bank added a fifth late-payment slab. Everything up to Rs 50,000 is unchanged, but a total payment due of more than Rs 50,000 now attracts Rs 1,300 instead of Rs 1,200. The same notice fixes the order in which a payment is applied to the outstanding: fees and charges including taxes first, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash advances.

  3. ▼ RewardObserved 29 Jul 2026 · Effective 28 Aug 2026

Tolls and road fees stop earning rewards; gift cards split into their own category

Bridge fees, road fees and tolls earned at the normal rate→No rewards or cashback on bridge fees, road fees and tolls

Axis Bank added bridge fees, road fees and tolls to the spends that earn nothing. Separately, gift card purchases move out of the Wallet spend category into a new Gift Card category; they already earned no rewards, and they continue to be excluded from spend-based fee waivers and milestone thresholds.

2024

  1. ▼ FeeEffective 20 Dec 2024

    Bank-wide charges revision

A portfolio-wide Axis repricing of ancillary charges took effect 20 Dec 2024: cash payment at branch ₹100 → ₹175, Dynamic Currency Conversion markup 1% → 1.5%, the rent-transaction surcharge became 1% uncapped, new 1% fees on wallet loads over ₹10,000 / fuel over ₹50,000 / utility bills over ₹25,000, and a new ₹100/month penalty if the minimum due is unpaid for two consecutive months. The finance charge was aligned to the 3.75%/month standard (from about 3.6% at this card's launch). The new EDGE Rewards redemption (₹99) and EDGE-to-partner conversion (₹199) fees do not apply here, as this card earns First Citizen points rather than EDGE points.

Legacy Citi First Citizen cardholders migrated to Axis

First Citizen Citibank card (Citi India, Mastercard, launched 2002)→Axis Bank Shoppers Stop Credit Card (Axis, Visa)

As Axis Bank completed its acquisition of Citibank India's consumer business, the legacy First Citizen Citibank co-brand was folded into Axis with the credit-card book cutover completed on 15 Jul 2024. The First Citizen points programme continued under Axis, and card number, PIN, CVV and expiry stayed unchanged at cutover while replacement Axis cards were issued. Migrated First Citizen customers were moved onto the new Axis Bank Shoppers Stop card, whose Axis-era earn (20 points per ₹200 on private labels) replaced the old Citi First Citizen structure of 4–5 points per ₹100.
