HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card

HDFC Regalia Gold after the May 2026 revision: 5 reward points per ₹200 (~1.25%), 10X on SmartBuy hotels, spend-gated lounges, ₹2,500 fee waived at ₹4 lakh. A premium all-rounder until the 15 May 2026 revision trimmed it, its base earn dropped to 5 reward points per ₹200 (~1.25% at ₹0.50/point, down from 4 RP/₹150), and from July 2026 domestic lounge access is gated behind ₹60,000 of quarterly spend. It still earns an accelerated 25 RP per ₹200 (~6.25%) at partner brands (Myntra, Marks & Spencer, Nykaa, Reliance Digital), and SmartBuy turns flights into 5X (~6.25%) and hotels into 10X (~12.5%), capped 4,000 RP/month. The ₹2,500 fee waives at ₹4 lakh of annual spend, with quarterly ₹1,500 vouchers (₹1.5L) and ₹5,000 flight vouchers (₹5L and ₹7.5L). The ₹2,500 welcome benefit is not automatic — HDFC's terms gate it on ₹1 lakh of net retail spend in the first 90 days, though its own FAQ still advertises it unconditionally. Redemption is capped at 70% of a booking's value and at 50,000 reward points a calendar month. Still capable, just no longer the effortless pick it was.

HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card Review (2026): The Sensible Workhorse, Trimmed

Still HDFC's sensible first premium card — but the May 2026 devaluation trimmed the earn rate to ~1.25% and spend-gated domestic lounges. SmartBuy hotels at 12.5% and flights at 6.25% keep the effective return well above the headline.

  • 12 domestic (3/quarter) + 6 international lounge visits/year (domestic gated at ₹60,000 prior-quarter spend from July 2026)

✕ Cons

  • Points worth far less than Infinia's — 15 to 20 paise as statement credit against Infinia's ₹1 on SmartBuy
  • No unlimited international lounge access — international travellers should consider Infinia
  • Reward portal redemption required for best value — statement credit gives a fraction of it
  • Points can cover only 70% of a SmartBuy booking, and redemption caps at 50,000 RP a calendar month
  • The welcome benefit is conditional on ₹1 lakh of spend in the first 90 days, not automatic

The concern

Best travel redemption is ₹0.50 a point via SmartBuy, and the ₹0.65 Exclusive Gold Catalogue is the only higher tier — but statement credit collapses to ₹0.15–₹0.20 (HDFC publishes both figures on its own page), and points can only cover 70% of a SmartBuy booking. Without using HDFC's portal the effective return drops to unremarkable levels.

Frequently asked questions

What is 1 reward point worth?
It depends entirely on the route, and the spread is wide. HDFC publishes ₹0.65 on the Exclusive Gold Catalogue, ₹0.50 on SmartBuy flights and hotels, up to ₹0.50 as airmiles, up to ₹0.35 for products and vouchers, and ₹0.15–₹0.20 as statement credit. ⚠ We previously quoted ₹0.35 as the statement rate — that is HDFC's products-and-vouchers figure, not the statement one. HDFC itself prints two different statement figures on the same page: its "Reward Point Benefits" block says up to ₹0.20, while the formal "Redemption Value" section below says up to ₹0.15. Plan on SmartBuy at ₹0.50, and treat statement credit as the floor.
Is the ₹2,500 welcome benefit unconditional?
Not automatically. HDFC's terms gate it: "All Regalia Gold card members can avail Complimentary Annual Memberships of Swiggy One & MMT Black Membership on achieving net retail spends of Rs 1 lakh within first 90 days of card issuance." ⚠ HDFC's own FAQ on the same page contradicts this and advertises an unconditional ₹2,500 gift voucher. The T&C is more specific and more recent, so assume the ₹1 lakh condition applies and plan your first 90 days accordingly. The welcome benefit is currently valued at about ₹2,500 against a joining fee of ₹2,950 all-in (incl. GST) — a first-year net of roughly ₹450 against you before any spend-based rewards. Figures as of October 2026.
How many ₹5,000 flight vouchers are there?
Two, at ₹5 lakh and again at ₹7.5 lakh of anniversary-year spend — that is what HDFC's product page, its features microsite and its FAQ all say, and it is what we carry. ⚠ HDFC's own T&C PDF says there is only ONE, at ₹7.5 lakh. We side with the three current surfaces because that PDF is demonstrably stale elsewhere: it still states a ₹150 minimum qualifying transaction, superseded by the ₹200 rebase on 15 May 2026. Worth checking your own terms before you plan around the second one.
Are domestic lounges truly free?
From 2026: domestic lounge requires ₹60,000 spend in the prior quarter. International lounges remain quarterly-capped. As per the card's current benefit schedule: 12 domestic (3/quarter) + 6 international lounge visits/year, the international ones on Priority Pass. From July 2026 domestic access requires ₹60,000 of spend in the previous quarter. Cash advances, card fees and all EMI spends (Easy EMI, SmartEMI, Dial-an-EMI) do not count toward that gate. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the annual fee waiver threshold?
₹4 lakh spend in the anniversary year waives the next year's ₹2,500 annual fee. The renewal fee is ₹2,500 plus 18% GST — ₹2,950 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹4,00,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹33,333 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
Does it have golf?
No — golf is available on HDFC Diners Black and Infinia. Regalia Gold does not include golf.
What is the forex markup?
2% on foreign-currency spends. Note — from 15 May 2026 HDFC also levies a 1.75% markup on international transactions billed to you in INR (dynamic currency conversion), and a ₹199 card-replacement fee. On this card the foreign-currency markup is 2%, and 18% GST applies on the markup fee, so the effective cost is about 2.36% of the transaction. On ₹1,00,000 of overseas spend that works out to roughly ₹2,360 in conversion charges before any rewards offset. Figures as of October 2026.
How has the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card changed over time?
Our dated Value Timeline for the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card (on this page) records 10 changes since 2023: 8 devaluations, 1 improvement, and the rest neutral changes such as launches or restructures. The most recent entry: Boarding Edge programme introduced (1 July 2026). Each event carries its source, so any figure here can be checked against the issuer's own documents.
Has the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card been devalued recently?
Yes — our record shows 8 devaluations to the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card in the last 24 months. The most recent: Domestic lounge access made spend-gated, effective 1 July 2026 — from 12 domestic visits/year, unconditional to 3 visits/quarter, only if ₹60,000 spent prior quarter. The full dated list, with what changed and its source, is in the Value Timeline on this page.
When did the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card's fees last change?
15 May 2026: Dynamic currency conversion markup raised to 1.75% — from 1% markup to 1.75% markup. The current fee schedule is in the fees table on this page; the Value Timeline lists every earlier fee change we have on record.
How did the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card change in 2026?
Our record shows 6 changes to the HDFC Regalia Gold Credit Card in 2026 (5 cuts and 1 improvement): INR-DCC markup and card-replacement fee added (15 May 2026); Dynamic currency conversion markup raised to 1.75% (15 May 2026); Base earn rate cut (15 May 2026), and 3 more. The biggest single change: before 1 July 2026 it was 12 domestic visits/year, unconditional; from then on, 3 visits/quarter, only if ₹60,000 spent prior quarter. Every event, dated and sourced, is in the Value Timeline on this page.

The bottom line

The May 2026 devaluation moved Regalia Gold from "effortless premium pick" to "good if you work it": the base is now ~1.25%, lounges need ₹60k/quarter, and the real value sits in SmartBuy and the partner-brand 6.25%. Clear ₹4 lakh and use SmartBuy and it still earns its keep; otherwise look at the alternatives.

How this page was built

Counted from this card’s own record: 3 earn rules, 2 of them capped, 2 paid only at named merchants and 6 recorded perks. The renewal fee is conditional — it is waived on a published spend target, so the fee you pay depends on what you spend.

Infinia-grade SmartBuy earning, unlimited worldwide lounges, and a perk stack (Club Marriott, Swiggy One, Amazon Prime) that erases the ₹10,000 fee on its own — once you unlock it, which takes ₹1.5 lakh of net retail spend in the first 90 days. Available to anyone who can clear the spend, no invitation needed. The one catch is Diners Club acceptance, so carry a Visa backup. For high spenders, it's the best openly applicable premium card in India.

6E Rewards IndiGo HDFC Bank Credit Card

HDFC has withdrawn the 6E Rewards IndiGo card: new applications stopped, and effective 1 November 2025 all product features and benefits ended, with holders migrated to another HDFC card and 6E Rewards converted 1:1 into IndiGo BluChips. While it ran, the ₹1,500 XL tier earned 5% back on IndiGo bookings, 3% on dining, groceries and entertainment, 2% on everything else, 8 domestic lounge visits and a low 2.5% forex markup. Anyone shopping for an IndiGo co-brand today has to look outside HDFC, to the issuers still running one.

ICICI Bank Sapphiro Credit Card

Still a sensible mid-premium card — modest reward points but enough lounge access for a monthly flyer, golf, and a fee that waives at ₹6 lakh. But ICICI has wrapped nearly every benefit in a spend condition: lounges have needed ₹75k/quarter since January 2025, and the 2026 devaluation added a ₹25k gate on movies and stopped several categories earning. Great for the consistent spender; frustrating for the occasional one.

  1. ▲ BenefitObserved 15 May 2026 · Effective 1 Jul 2026

    Boarding Edge programme introduced

Partly offsetting the lounge cut, the 2026 revision added Boarding Edge: upload an airline boarding pass on SmartBuy and pick any two arrival-city benefits per quarter — a spa session, a free Uber airport transfer (~₹750), a partner buffet, or a one-night ITC Hotels room upgrade.

    Base earn rate cut

    4 RP per ₹150 (~1.33%)→5 RP per ₹200 (~1.25%)

Effective 15 May 2026 the base earn dropped from 4 Reward Points per ₹150 to 5 per ₹200, thinning the everyday return from ~1.33% to ~1.25% at ₹0.50/point. The 5X partner-brand and SmartBuy accelerators were left unchanged.

  5. ▼ FeeEffective 15 May 2026

Dynamic currency conversion markup raised to 1.75%

    1% markup→1.75% markup

HDFC's MITC: "Dynamic currency conversion Markup Fee: With effect from 15th May 2026, a Markup fee of 1.75% will be levied on all transactions carried out in Indian Currency at an international location or at merchants which are located in India but registered overseas." This is separate from, and stacks on top of, the card's ordinary foreign-currency markup. It is the charge you pay for accepting a terminal's offer to bill you in rupees while abroad - always decline that offer and pay in the local currency. It also catches India-based purchases from merchants registered overseas, which is easy to trigger without leaving the country. The PIXEL MITC dates the same change 17 May 2026.
