HSBC RuPay Cashback Credit Card

The HSBC RuPay Cashback is the UPI/RuPay version of HSBC's cashback line — 10% on dining, food delivery and groceries, a narrower basket than the Visa Live+ since that card added shopping and utilities on 26 July 2026, but built to be linked to PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm and spent straight from a UPI app. It costs ₹499 a year (waived at ₹2 lakh of spend), pays 10% on the dining/delivery/grocery basket and 1% on everything else under a combined ₹400-per-month cashback ceiling, and adds something the Visa Live+ does not — up to 10 airport lounge visits a year (2 domestic per quarter plus 2 international). The trade-off versus Live+ is a tighter cap (₹400 vs ₹1,200) and a lower base rate (1% vs 1.5%), so it suits a lighter spender who values UPI-on-credit and the lounges over raw cashback headroom. Its standing forex mark-up is 3.5%, so keep it for domestic UPI and the quick-commerce basket.

A neat UPI/RuPay cashback card: 10% on dining, delivery and groceries, you can pay from any UPI app, and you get lounge access Live+ lacks. Just size it right — the ₹400 monthly cap and 1% base make it a lighter card than the ₹999 Live+, which still wins for heavy quick-commerce spenders. For UPI convenience plus a few lounges at ₹499, it earns its place.

HSBC’s 10% cashback card comes in a Visa and a RuPay/UPI version. The headline basket — 10% on dining, food delivery and groceries — is the same; the fee, the cap and lounge access differ.

In-depth review

HSBC RuPay Cashback Credit Card

The UPI-linked sibling of HSBC Live+ — 10% on dining, food delivery and groceries, payable straight from PhonePe, GPay or Paytm, plus up to 10 lounge visits a year that Live+ does not offer. The constraint is a ₹400 combined monthly cashback ceiling: about ₹4,000 of accelerated spend exhausts it, after which you are holding a 1% card.

The concern

The combined cashback cap is just ₹400/month — roughly ₹4,000 of accelerated spend exhausts it, after which you are on a 1% card. Heavier spenders are better served by Live+'s ₹1,200 cap.

Frequently asked questions

Can I link it to UPI?
Yes — link the RuPay card to PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm and earn cashback on UPI payments (merchant payments only). A ₹250 linking-cashback offer ran from 15 May to 31 July 2026 and has ended.
What is the cashback cap?
Up to ₹400 in cashback per month, combined across the 10% categories and the 1% base. In effective-return terms this card's best everyday earn is 1% on everyday spends (rewards capped at ₹400 a month in that category) — percentages here are cashback as a share of spend, credited to the statement with no points to convert. It reaches 10% at Swiggy, Zomato, restaurant dining, and only there. Figures as of October 2026.
How is it different from HSBC Live+?
Live+ is a ₹999 Visa card with a higher ₹1,200/month cap and a 1.5% base but no lounges; RuPay Cashback is ₹499, UPI-linked, with a ₹400 cap, a 1% base and up to 10 lounge visits a year.
Is there lounge access?
Yes — up to 10 visits a year — 2 domestic per quarter plus 2 international per year. As per the card's current benefit schedule: Up to 10 lounge visits a year — 2 domestic per quarter (8/yr) plus 2 international per year, per the product page (Aug 2026); the Feb-2026 service guide states only 4 visits (one per quarter), so confirm your entitlement with HSBC before relying on it. Figures as of October 2026.
What is the annual fee waiver?
₹2 lakh of annual spend waives the ₹499 fee. The renewal fee is ₹499 plus 18% GST — ₹589 all-in, which is the figure that actually hits the statement. Spending ₹2,00,000 in the card year waives the renewal fee — about ₹16,667 a month. Figures as of October 2026.
