If you hold this card: You keep the legacy Tata Card — only new applications have stopped. Its NeuCoins-based successor, the Tata Neu Plus SBI Card, earns directly across the whole Tata group for the same ₹499 fee.
SBI’s original 2019 Tata co-brand was superseded by the NeuCoins-based Tata Neu SBI cards (Plus and Infinity, launched 2025). No formal cutover date was announced; the card is simply closed to new applicants and retained here for reference.

Quick verdict: A discontinued entry-level Tata co-brand from 2019 — a ₹499 card with 3X points on grocery, up to 5% value back at Tata outlets and a 1% fuel-surcharge waiver. It is closed to new applicants and has been superseded by the Tata Neu Plus SBI Card, so this page exists as a reference record for existing holders and anyone researching the old range, not as a recommendation to apply.
The Tata Card was the entry point of SBI's original Tata co-brand pair, launched in February 2019 below the premium Tata Card SELECT. It belonged to the pre-Tata-Neu era, when Tata's rewards were a patchwork of "value back" at individual outlets rather than the unified NeuCoins currency in use today. When Tata moved its loyalty programme onto the Tata Neu super-app, this card was retired.
What it offered
For a low ₹499 annual fee, the Tata Card earned:
- 3X Reward Points on Departmental & Grocery store spends.
- Up to 5% value back on spends at select Tata outlets.
- A 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on specified transactions.
- A base of roughly 1 Reward Point per ₹100 on other spends.
With SBI Reward Points worth about ₹0.25 each, the base earning was thin — around 0.25% — so the card leaned on its Tata-outlet value back and grocery accelerator to justify itself. For a ₹499 card aimed at Tata-loyal households, that was a fair, if unremarkable, package.
Why it was retired
Like its premium sibling, the Tata Card was built for a world before Tata Neu. Once the group launched NeuCoins as a single currency spanning BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Tata 1mg, Air India and more, an outlet-by-outlet "value back" card no longer fit. SBI and Tata replaced the range with cards that earn NeuCoins directly, where 1 NeuCoin equals ₹1 across the entire group.
What to get instead
If you hold this card or found an old reference to it, the current equivalents are:
- Tata Neu Plus SBI Card — the direct low-fee successor. Same ₹499 fee, but 2% NeuCoins across Tata brands, 1% on RuPay UPI, and the fee reversed at ₹1 lakh of spend.
- Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card — for heavier Tata spenders wanting 5% NeuCoins and a 1.99% forex markup.
- For non-Tata spending, a flat-cashback card such as the SBI Cashback is simpler and usually pays more.
The bottom line
The Tata Card was a modest, affordable co-brand that did its job for grocery and Tata-outlet spending, but it is a closed, legacy product with no route to obtain it new. Existing holders should compare its value against the Tata Neu Plus SBI Card, which earns NeuCoins directly across the whole Tata group for the same fee.
